COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A remarkable lager whose natural ingredients and brewing method create a uniquely pleasant bouquet. Some beer drinkers note a hint of spiciness, others say the aroma reminds them of a gentle breeze in a pine woods. Called Petrovskoye in Russian. The brews mellow taste is due to an extra special variety of yeast. Brewed from 2009 at Bochkarev.

500ml bottle. Pours clear gold with a medium-sized white head that disappears after about 10 seconds. Aroma is malt, grain, yeast. Taste is slightly sweet and malty, low bitter finish. Bland but drinkable lager. Im sure I had this beer back in 2009, weird how it disappeared from the shops, I guess they must have stopped shipping it to Moscow, because I found this bottle in south eastern Russia.

50cl can. Yellow, clear pour with faint white head (looks like pee), no lacing. Very, very faint aroma of caramel, almost odorless. Taste is weak and watery, bland. Little to no carbonation. At this point Im not sure if this counts as a beer anymore.

FTA: A simple example of Russian lager. I was drinking it for the first time when I was 16, during December 2000. This was a good lager.

50 cl bottle @Restaurant alik, Helsinki. Bottled 06.03.2014, BBE 06.12.2014
as Степан Разин Петровс&
Aroma is fresh with grass, grain, some buttery tones and distant metallic notes. Flavour has some butter, grainy tones and hints of grass. Dry finish. Refreshing and easy-going, better than I expected. Pairs fine with Vorschmack.

500 ml bottle from supermarket in Vyborg, 4.9 abv, clear gold colour, small white almost instantenously gone head. Aroma is bread and floral hops, a bit of paper in the mouth, otherwise fairly balanced taste, fairly bitter herbal finish. Light body, fizzy carbonation. Quite boring but drinkable, but on the other hand decent amount of alcohol and almost half cheaper than most other beers in that shop, but this consideration is useless as its Russia and if you want to get drunk for cheap the only proper solution is vodka. Actually the latter applies for the rest of the world too now that I think of it.

Clear pale yellow with white foam head. Aroma is earthy, some barley. Taste is bit sweet, malty, earthy. Not the best beer Heineken is brewing. (St. Petersburg, 201305)

500 ml can @ home May 07,2013 Beer bought in a tiny supermarket in oldtown Saint Petersburg,Russia during a holiday in April and brought back home in my suitcase. Weak golden/yellow in color. Very weak in aroma and taste, but slightly smell and taste of hop and malt. Nothing to remember

500ml can, as Stepan Razin Petrovskoe 1795, 4.9% abv, kindly shared by Elisabeth. Next-to-clear, straw coloured body, Low, white head. Fragile lacing. Smell of sweet and dry, pale malts. Herbal hops and malts in flavour added a kind of candy sweetness. Papery dry palate. Minimal carbonation. Rather bland impression. Below par for the style (session in Troms, 19.06.2012).

larsga (7444) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 19, 2009
Medium white head. Yellow body. Peppery apple and milk aroma with papery notes. Dry-sweetish pappery papery taste with grassy notes. Mid-bodied. Dry papery grassy aftertaste lasts a long time, the paper being fairly powerful all the time. Not too horrible, though. Also fairly bitter. (0.5l can, Netto supermarket, St. Petersburg. My can said 5.2%.)
