COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Hoogstraten Poorter is a dark and strong local beer of high fermentation and has a lovely sweet sense with a subtle aroma of roasted malt. With its bittersweet, full-bodied taste and velvety finish, the Hoogstraten Poorter is a unique beer in its range. This porter is being brewed in honour of the 800th birthday of the city of Hoogstraten.

Pours dark brown with a fairly large head that however dissipates quickly, leaving an uneven thin foam on top of the beer. Malt, roasted coffee aroma. Pleasantly roasted flavour, though the flavour seems a bit alcoholic for "only" 6½%. Decent enough, but not earth-shattering.

Swing top bomber bottle. Aroma is sweetly skunk with some darkness. Appearance is dark brown with a tan head. Taste is European sweet with some dark skunkiness. Palate is pretty neutral. Overall, a decent beer. Very European. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark amber colour, medium carbonation. Aroma of sweet caramel and dark fruit. Easy drinkable. Bit thin body.

Pours a dark black with fizzy light brown head. Aroma is a mix of toffee, prunes, and other dark fruits. Taste is watered down (but flavorful) with prunes, raisins, other dark fruits, and sweet malt.

Chiamiamola porter belga o dubbel molto originale, ma niente di eccezionale comunque. Gusto che riechegga i malti tostati, con note di frutta scura e una dolcezza pervasiva da canditi. Gradevole.

Bottle , pours thin black with a white head . Dark fruit and moderate sweetness . Cheap cola aftertaste . Not my favorite . ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Strykzone (7422) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - JUN 8, 2013
Sampled at esbls. Medium brown with a ligjt tan head. This has the distinct flavor of a porter from that region. Grape jelly flavor with roasted notes. Not a gret porter.

rondphoto (4464) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - MAY 8, 2013
Pours a clear dark ruby amber with a big frothy 4" head that slowly goes away, thick curving sheets of lace. Taste is lightly spiced sweet caramel malt with a twist of dark fruit and earthy bread. Slightly chalky on the roof of the mouth, but still drinks easily. The finish includes a carbonation edge that brings things back into balance. Slightly off the beaten path,...and quite good. Recommended.

llcooldave (1218) - San Antonio, Texas, USA - APR 5, 2013
Looks like a brown ale in the glass as opposed to a porter. Funky fruit and some leather aromas. Spicy yeast and toasted dark bread notes followed by a dryness on the palate. Overall, nice... I dig the large ceramic bottle too! Thanks to jmoore102 for bringing it to the tasting.

VALIS (229) - Nashua, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Smell of dark fruit, candy, malt. Subdued taste, a fair amount of carbonation, combined with sweetness that gives this a vague cola quality.
