the aroma is caramel and hoppy with hints of orange, grapefruit, pine and spicy herbs... the taste is caramel and fruity with notes of grapefruit, pine needles, toast, key lime and spicy grasses... bitter and dry aftertaste...

Bottle @ home. It’s quite watery compared to a lot of other blacl ipas. Lacks roastyness and hops a bit, but it’s not unpleasant. Thin body, nice carbo.

33 cL Bottle at home. Pours dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma has chocolate, caramel, some fruitiness and hops. Taste has a bit of roast, chocolate, a rather weak fruitiness and a medium bitter finish. Medium body and carbo. Lacking some fruitiness for a black IPA.

2016 catch up - Bottle at home - It was a nice dark beer, but not one that I would classify as a black IPA. Lot’s of dark malt and a great flavour, but light on the hops. More like a Hobgoblin or an Old Peculiar. Very nice though!

500ml bottle. The aroma is liquorice and some resiny and citrusy hops. The taste is well balanced, refreshing and a good example of a beer style I like. The hops are prominent but not overpowering. Thin head with very little carbonation. Tasty.

Christos (5787) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - MAR 11, 2017
(Stewart Black IPA) Bottle 330ml at home, served into a shaker, ABV 5% Brown coloured body, tall but thin beige head on top, with low retention. Aroma of chocolate, light coffee, citrus, grapefruit. Taste is nicely bitter with good hop presence, plenty of citrus and grapefruit, just a bit of chocolate and roasted character. Medium thin body, good carbonation. Quite good.

bierkoning (13355) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - DEC 23, 2016
Bottle. Almost black. Soft roast, citrus and tropical fruit in the aroma. Malty sweet, soft roasty, soft tart flavor with citrus. Smooth, fruity. Low on carbon. Well balanced.

Benzai (15611) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - DEC 5, 2016
Bottle @ home. Brown to dark brown color with a slight red glare coming through when held into the light, medium sized beige to light brown head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is quite faint. Taste malts, toasted malts, quite nicely hoppy, moderately hop bitter, lightly bitter. Average to decent body and carbonation.

AROMA: bread, hay, spruce, APPEARANCE: black, minimal head, white foam, TASTE: light sourness, lightly bitter, medium body, thin feel, soft carbonation, OVERALL: uninspiring aroma; easy to drink, nothing really notable but a little spruce from American hops.
