.It’s a tradition for many breweries to release a special Christmas ale packed full of festive flavours and aromas. Three Wise Men is our take on that tradition.
Developed by our 3 Wise(ish) brewers, this beer is a balanced combination of pale, crystal and wheat malts subtly infused with seasonal fruits and a hint of cinnamon to make a very drinkable beer full of festive cheer.
Hops: Magnum, Challenger
Malt: Maris Otter, Wheat, Crystal, Cara Pils and Chocolate
Other: Seasonal fruits and cinnamon

Nice dark brown ale with an easily drinkable chocolate malt flavour and some caramel hints.

On tap @ Carters Bar. Pours dark amber and beyond. There’s a decent head and gentle carbonation. The nose is dominated by the crystal and cara malt flavours, very biscuity and with a hint of spice, though I don’t get the cinnamon or dried fruit so much. The taste has more of the same but again a lack of the dried fruit & spice. The palate is medium bodied and textured with a fairly elegant finish - it grows on me too. Overall, solid but not up to Stewarts’ usual standards.

Ruby red colour. Aroma is a bit stale, like cardboard. Flavour has some red fruit sweetness. Nice texture, silky.

brownyonder (266) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 21, 2011
Poured a dark, slightly reddish brown with a medium white head. Sweet aromas - some spices, malts, and hops. Flavour was festive - Christmas pudding, spice, malt.

On cask at the bow bar. Pours a dark ruby colour with a thin white head. Atom is spicy with cinnamon, nutmeg and caramel. Similar flavours with a roasty malt linger. Mild carbonation.

Cask in Edinburgh. Full malty body. Prunes and lots of sweetness. Some fine hops in the tail, but not enough.

BeerCast_Rich (1906) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 20, 2010
[cask at the Abbotsford, Edinburgh] Pours deep reddish brown, malty aroma with a touch of bitterness. Continues on the palate, but only after an unexpected plum pudding flavour comes at you first. Quite fruity, then the maltiness with some caramel. Slightly bitter finish. For a winter beer it’s pretty good [15122010]
