This Cascadian Dark Ale has four kinds of rye malt balanced by Summit, Centennial, and a load of late addition Simcoe hops. Full bodied and quite tasty- you’ll see things.

On tap at the brewery in Lake Oswego, OR. Aroma: roasty, piney, and malty, with hints of coffee, toffee, and resin. Taste/Palate: crisp, astringent, bitter, and sweet throughout. Not sweet enough.

On tap at Stickmen. Aroma is a rich roasty coffee. Flavor is a rich roast followed by a slightly sweet and creamy finish. I really enjoyed the roasty flavors to this one, it made up for the slight bitterness.

On draught at Stickmen Brewery & Skewery. Deep black color with dark tan head. Aroma is rye, chocolate, toffee, and pine. Taste is oak, chocolate, coffee, toffee, rye, and pine/citrus notes. Sweet and spicy CDA, belies its 108 IBUs. Coffee and chocolate finish.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a almost pure black color with a medium beige head. A sweet nose of dark fruit and cocoa. The flavor has bitterness creeping in at all the edges, caramel, spicy rye, some heat. The hop profile is oddly complicated and doesn’t shine super well. Otherwise, a solid brew.
