This was a pretty nice premium lager that tasted very German. Nice taste and a good finish.

Poured from the bottle, the beer shows a deep golden yellow color topped by a nice foamy yet creamy white head. The aroma is a bit muted, but the clean, musty European hop character still comes through. The flavor is more pronounced, with an herbal, earthy hop combination, along with a bit of citric acidity, contrasting against the dry sweetness of the light malt base. The texture is rich and substantial, which feels a bit heavy, but it is satisfying.

Bottle:   Bright straw, very clear, large foamy white head, spotty lacing.   Grassy nose, half and half between musty and sweet.   Towards the back it gets a little mealy, moreso a little musty than sweet.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Clean finish, lingering grassiness.   Seems pretty middle of the road.

So these were some good notes. I wrote down that it tastes like german things. Also that is was pale in color with some skunk. Hmmm.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2011 translucent gold with a bubbly white head, medium body with medium-high carbonation.

Aroma is sweet pale malt with hints of toffee, yeast sulfates, and bread crust.
Taste is lots of sweet malt and sourdough bread crust, with noble hops and complex yeast flavors filling out the background. Hop bitterness is faint, allowing the malt character to take center stage from start to finish.
A good choice for someone who enjoys the body and malt character of Helles lagers, but not the hop bitterness.

Kegged it has a nice nutty malt flavor and is unusually fresh and clean tasting compared to geographically and stylistically similar beers i’ve had before, surely due in part to being better protected from light and heat in a keg.

Poured a pale color with an off-white head. Aroma has malts with some corn and skunk. Taste has a bit of skunk as well with pale malts. Slightly sweet, but not too syrupy. Ok, for a pale lager, but not something I’d have again.

BREWMUSKCLES (2671) - New Jersey, USA - APR 19, 2011
a golden brew made in the German tradition it is full with barley malt and a warming soulful lingering finish. full white head with effervescent bubbling carbonation settling on the bottom of the glass and rising periodically. fruit punch and light banana with spritzy tingly hop profile. moderate yeasty mouthfeel.

500ml bottle. Pours a clear yellow, with a creamy off-white head. Aromas of honey and citrus (lemon), with some cereal notes. Basic Austrian template of sweet malt, and metallic hops. Decent, inoffensive, and easy drinking.
