I enjoyed this beer, as it offered an array of flavors and melded well to offer a great complexity. It is fuller bodied, but stays refreshing, and is well rounded in character. The slight alcohol burn is hardly noticable, and actually offers a nice element to this well done heller bock. I wish it were slightly more hoppy, as it is noble...to say the least

Bottle at home. Aroma of sweetish grainy malt, straw, apples, sugary, metallic notes, stale hops. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and light to moderate bitter. Some noticeable alcohol. Body is medium. Not very good, just a lot of sweetish malts.

2008 vintage, which I did not see on the bottle until i opened it. Green bottle with a twist off cap. It is showing its age with low carbonation and moderate oxidation. Nontheless, Good caramel flavor, leather, malt that is sweet and old hops. With age this is a lot like an aged English ale. I wont blame Stiegl for the age, but I will blame them for the green bottle. I would be happy to give it another try. I enjoyed sipping on it as it is, but I am sure it would be vastly different when fresh.

Draught at Centimeter II, Vienna.
Dark golden, clear body, with a medium, creamy, white head, that dissipates quickly.
Quite light aroma of grains, honey, herbs.
Tastes of honey, bread, grains, grass, herbs, citrus, alcohol.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes bitter-sweet, a bit dry, with citrus, herbs and grass.

Nice! A good example of this style, that isnt special, but quaffable and with a nice creaminess. The sweet honey and bready malts and the subtle citrus notes are enjoyable and in a good balance.
