This deep amber hued ale takes it’s inspiration from Germany while still nodding to the Belgian farmhouse tradition. The base is comprised of German two-row, wheat, Cara-Munich, and roasted barley. Generously hopped with a blend of Perle, Spalt, and Hallertau Mittelfrüh and fermented with a rustic Belgian farmhouse ale yeast. These elements together provide a melange of earth and fruit aromas backed with hints of caramel with a dry clean finish.

Was a real nice well rounded easy drinking beer with a good bit of creativity qualities flowing through. I got some cherries and a bit of fig hinting towards almost a Belgian style beer but it mellowed out with some other fruit like qualities and finished real clean and crisp.

Medio cappello schiuma compatta, colore ambrato scuro con riflessi di luce. Al naso poco alcol odori ferrosi note di frutta secca. Buona carbonatura, in bocca buona tessitura e secchezza finale. Note dolci e sentori di frutta secca, finale leggermente amaro e aspro, secchezza e amaro persistente. Ottima birra avvolgente, con buonissimi senotori e vari livelli che si lascia bere con molta facilità.

bottle @ home. Pours a dark copper colored liquid with a large, tan head. Sweet, malt/toffee aroma with spices, pine, fruits. Taste is dry and slightly toffee sweet with flavors of malt, bread, herbs and dry spices, yeast, grass, orange zest and strawberries. Finish is a bit cloying, almost like glue on the tongue.

Pours a nice dark reddish amber color. Aromas of fruit, and some other hints, maybe some spices, maybe caramel. Flavor is a bittersweet, malty, and a hint of hops with a nice bittersweet finish.

12 oz. bottle. Pours an enormously thick, gradually collapsing, ivory head, with slight lacing, over a clear amber copper (SRM 16) body.....nose is mild toffee/caramel, light ginger, herbal notes, balanced......taste is slightly sweet with mild toffee/caramel notes, becoming dry, with herbal hops, light spices including ginger, finishing with mild pepper, and soft lingering bitterness......mouth feel, light of medium body, no alcohol, high carbonation with moderate acid. Although an interesting beer to drink, this is a bit muddled in the aromas and flavors, and the ginger ale like aromas and flavors are a bit off putting. Also, while the Belgian yeast put in some of the spice, there were many other characteristics missing. I do wonder if the bottle has been corectly stored. BJCP 7/3/12/4/6

Aroma is malty with brown sugars and spicey yeast. Taste is caramelly malts, toffee like sweetness, spice from the yeast and a herbal cloak. However, there’s something in the end that doesn’t really tie this one together? I can’t really say what it is, but the aftertaste is somewhat unpolished or rough? Is it the darker malts that mess this one up? Drinkable, but nothing I’d do backflips for to try again.
