Draft notes from Whole Foods Plymouth. Pours hazy coppery with off-white head. Notes of caramel, blackberry, oak, funk in the nose, with complex flavor and fruity, oaky finishing notes. pumpmaster (1393) - Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA - MAR 11, 2013
750ml bottle purchased at Total Wine Pembroke Pines, FL for $10.99 Very good! hawthorne00 (3900) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JAN 11, 2013
Bottle. Murky brown with a large light beige head that lasts pretty well. Aroma of caramel, apples, plums, red wine. Sweet with some tartness, bitterness is herbal. Plenty of wine and oak, less caramel and more bread than suggested by the aroma. Plums, poached quinces and some raspberries. The wood is fairly prominent but doesn’t drown out the other flavours. Good, certainly autumnal. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - DEC 21, 2012
On tap at Max’s (10/9/11): Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a spotty-lacing off-white head. Has a lightly sweet toasty dark caramel malty nose with some citrus hops and vinous oak. Starts with good fullness and fine carbonation with a touch of toasted dark malt and buttery oak before a drier bittersweet finish. musinj6 (506) - Dedham, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 21, 2012
Pours a dark, murky brown with four finger head that persists for a long while and leaves a large amount of lacing. Aromas include dark raisin and plum aromas with sweet flavor up front that is mild, but not tart. Mild to moderate bitterness overtakes the middle and it has a long finish with hints of tobacco. Chewy palate, full body with soft carbonation. This was well done.

On tap. Pours a clear gold with a light tan head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has notes of sweet bread, light fruit and veggies with a backing red wine. Flavor has notes of bread and pumpkin upfront with red wine coming out in the finish. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - FEB 4, 2012
On tap at Max’s today during their Stillwater event. Served in a cervoise.
Pours a moderate brown color with a medium off-white head and moderate lacing on the way down. Thin collar throughout. The nose brings a good dosing of red wine and it is fairly barrel-heavy throughout. Behind that is a bit of light spice and some earthiness. A bit of bready malt. Oak is heavy through the nose and flavor but is masked by red wine. While the wine is dominant, it is a pleasant addition to the beer. Earthy background and a bit of yeast. Medium body with a dry and slightly too tannic finish. Quite good, but not as good as some of the other barrel-aged offerings.

On tap at the map room. Pours a very nice deep amber red brown color lightly hazy with a thick off white head. Aroma is funky and dark fruits Brett and a bit pleasantly cheesy over a light tartness. Flavor really draws out the woody and vanilla notes with the wine character. Still heavy funk and Brett into a slightly bland but smooth finish of wood. Medium body and a crisp carbonation. Very good beer. Yes sir. On draft. Brett is in perfect balance with the malts and faded German hops, just a great Brett B aroma! Flavor follows, nice balance, smooth caramel malt with slight grassiness, low amounts of iron, cherry pie, med/low bitterness, touch of white wine from the hops and beautiful red wine fruitiness, excellent dryness. Only complaint is the dryness makes it a bit thin on the finish/aftertaste... but it’s damn good. kreid27 (4) - Maine, USA - NOV 14, 2011 does not count
Barrel aging is subtle, very mild sourness. Minimal head. Not as full-bodied as I would have liked, but tasty nonetheless. Drank on tap @ Lion’s Pride.
