16/20 a special beer, so much flavour and different tastes, a real sipping imperial stout with the big smokes tastes competing against the big imp stout but very balanced. pentaz (1341) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - DEC 21, 2017
Bottle. Nice brown head. Chocolate, roasted, soy, very mild smoke. Medium sweet and bitter. Velvety texture, medium body. Finishes sweet and bitter with lasting bitterness. Lovely texture. islay (3312) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 10, 2017
12 oz. bottle, consumed on 12-4-17. Dark brown, slightly reddish. Moderate to large amount of short-lasting, dark taupe head. Good lacing. Scents of red grape, blueberry pie, and toffee. Very lightly smoky. Smells good. Dry, lightly smoky flavor. Caramel cube. Roasted malts. Dill, Nice roasted, lightly smoky aftertaste. Medium body, light for the ABV, presumably due to the wheat. Soft in the palate. A little simple given the variety of what’s going on but definitely good. I could handle a lot more smoke but what’s here is good. Something of a dessert beer, a bit to my surprise, but there’s enough dryness, roast, and smoke to make it a sophisticated dessert. Improves and displays more complexity upon multiple sips. Good beer; not quite great. 126.96.36.199.15=>3.8 thewolf (13068) - Kolding, DENMARK - NOV 5, 2017

A very dark beer with a beige head. This both smells and tastes sweet and a little sticky (maybe to cover the alcohol), perhaps more so than I’d like. That said, it grows on me and ends up working pretty well once the finish arrives. There is a pleasant dark toffee in there, and what lingers is a fairly dry roast with some smokiness. I may get some signs of wheat in there also, but they don’t dominate. Not majestic but solid. Unusally, Phil didn’t have this, as far as he is aware.
Opaque black beer, thin brown head. Smells of malt, toffee, chocolate. Flavour is chocolate, toffee, earthy malt, some dried fruit and then you really get the woodiness from the barrel-aging. That ends up leaving an aftertaste that’s smoky and almost tangy. Rich and hearty on top of all that. Even taking the strength aside it’s not a guzzler, but it’s a damn fine beer.
