Cool cellared 12 oz bottle.
Pours hazy dark reddish-brown with a fine looking tan head that has moderate retention but leaves excellent lacing.
Rich flavor that’s a bit boozy. Hints of dried plums, dates and fruit-bread.
Pleasing aroma with a hint of the 9% ABV,
Medium-full body with medium carbonation. JPDIPSO (6216) - Wauwatosa, USA - OCT 28, 2016
Hazy to cloudy brown liquid with a taller light tan colored head. Caramel to toasted malt, mild licorice, floral hops, and ripe light fruit. Sweet and just a bit of spice - anise and cloves. Not overly complex, but enough nuances. A mild flame has been started in the stomach, otherwise the alcohol is well hidden. Long malty linger. 2/11

A deep dark brown ale with a thin brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with loads of pine needles, juniper, molasses, mocha, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a sweet fruity chocolate malt with loads of licorice, juniper, light coffee, grassy hops, oily mouth feel, alcohol warmth, very nice. BVery (10327) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - DEC 25, 2014
Bottle. Murky dark orange pour with a dense head. Aroma is floral and dark fruit. Bit of yeast. Hint of veggie soup but not bad on that front. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 25, 2014
Bottle. Pours a mostly clear amber body under a small fizzy off-white head that faded to a thin film. The nose is rather heavy with lots of sweet malt and a little earthy spiciness and a light note of alcohol. Smells kinda like a really heavy Saison. The flavor is rather sweet up front with a heavy caramel and some toffee notes. Finishes a little spicier with some earthy notes and moderate alcohol heat. Interesting beer, not something that I’d drink with regularity, but worth a try.

Poured dark brown. Smail tan head. Nose of toffee and brown sugar. Dark fruit. Medium plus body and sticky mouthfeel. Flavor is molasses and spicy with flowers. Very interesting and drinkable. Chudwick (3181) - Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA - APR 23, 2014
375ml bottle (9% ABV per label) into Le Duvel - nose is basement dirt, old flowers and Belgian candy. Sip adds a little harsh and sweet. Black pepper does creep in like, well, you know... Kind of dull and heavy like a good late night narrative-driven movie. adnielsen (10605) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - APR 21, 2014
Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a bit cloudy dark orangish brown appearance with a light brown head. Gooey caramel, orange candy, floral aroma. Some spicy / phenolic notes as well. A bit oxidized. Goopy brown sugar / toffee, tangerine fruity, kind of boozy flavor. Spicy and sweet. Too strong for my liking. Not sure if I’ll be purchasing many more of these high priced Stillwater releases. KyotoLefty (10207) - Kyoto, JAPAN - FEB 9, 2014
Lovely orange-brown with lace. Wheaty, saison yeast, spicy, some caramel, grass. A touch of cola. Nicely spicy yeast, caramel, dark malts, nice malts. Clean and dry. Very nice amber saison. Floral, but don’t especially get rose or jasmine. OK, maybe a bit of jasmine.
