Medium ruddy brown pour with a thin beige head. aroma is sort of all over the place, lots of sweet floral and tree fruit, toasty, chocolate, pale toffee, malted milk, honey, sweet nectarine/plum, light caramel and a bit of hearty granola and cereal grain. Flavor is similarly crazy, lots of sweet toffee and malt, YooHoo chocolate, toffee and caramel, more nectarine and plum, with a slightly more tart and earthy apricot/tart peach, black pepper, and a sort of old lady perfume meets peppercorn and seedy berry finish. The mouthfeel is weird, medium body with a slick but sticky creaminess that is somewhere between a mouthful of blood, a sweet red wine and a barely carbonated Barley Wine. All weirdness aside, I enjoyed this beer well enough, not worth the price everyday, (I think $7.99/375ml) but definitely an interesting enough random assortment of sensations to warrant a one time purchase for me. Kinda looks like movie prop poo water, though.

Pours hazy dark reddish-brown with a fine looking tan head that has moderate retention but leaves excellent lacing.
Rich flavor that’s a bit boozy. Hints of dried plums, dates and fruit-bread.
Pleasing aroma with a hint of the 9% ABV,

Hazy to cloudy brown liquid with a taller light tan colored head. Caramel to toasted malt, mild licorice, floral hops, and ripe light fruit. Sweet and just a bit of spice - anise and cloves. Not overly complex, but enough nuances. A mild flame has been started in the stomach, otherwise the alcohol is well hidden. Long malty linger. 2/11

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear amber body under a small fizzy off-white head that faded to a thin film. The nose is rather heavy with lots of sweet malt and a little earthy spiciness and a light note of alcohol. Smells kinda like a really heavy Saison. The flavor is rather sweet up front with a heavy caramel and some toffee notes. Finishes a little spicier with some earthy notes and moderate alcohol heat. Interesting beer, not something that I’d drink with regularity, but worth a try.

375ml bottle (9% ABV per label) into Le Duvel - nose is basement dirt, old flowers and Belgian candy. Sip adds a little harsh and sweet. Black pepper does creep in like, well, you know... Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a bit cloudy dark orangish brown appearance with a light brown head. Gooey caramel, orange candy, floral aroma. Some spicy / phenolic notes as well. A bit oxidized. Goopy brown sugar / toffee, tangerine fruity, kind of boozy flavor. Spicy and sweet. Too strong for my liking. Lovely orange-brown with lace. Wheaty, saison yeast, spicy, some caramel, grass. A touch of cola. Nicely spicy yeast, caramel, dark malts, nice malts. Clean and dry. Very nice amber saison. Floral, but don’t especially get rose or jasmine. OK, maybe a bit of jasmine.
