Draft at Mikkeller Bar, Black Sensation. Opaque black with a creamy light brownish head with good retention. Nose has very fruity, almost berry-like accents with spicy components that reminds of bubblegum as it has a light tart note. Very creamy texture, extremely well balanced mouthfeel, sweet, fruity, dark, smooth and bitter. Might be the best beer I had at Black Celebration. Pours basically black with a small tight head and nice lacing on the glass.
The aroma is leathery with a good blackberry character, plenty of chocolate, some dusty notes and some earthy hops.
The flavor is very earthy and hoppy. Plenty of chocolate and raw cocoa character, plenty bitter all around, very dry with some nice blackberry and mulberry fruitiness.
I don’t know why I’ve got such a soft spot for this one, but I really do. I can see why some wouldn’t even like it, but it’s right up my alley.

Bottle at Eulogy. Lot number 0000001. Opaque brown pour with a slim tan head (though the head nearly overflew the bottle before the second pour). Very smooth, almost fluffy, coffee/chocolate at first sip. Feels oddy ethereal. Glad I am having this warm. Notes of cinnamon, cocoa nibs, burnt caramel, prunes and charcoal grill. The Brett only brings a very mild spike to the mix. Would not otherwise know it was there. Still amazed by the unusual light body - note I do not mean light in the traditional sense, the body is nicely full but feels like you are sipping on a cloud. 50cl bottle. Medium tan head atop black-brown body, nice lacing. Aroma is moderately sweet, roast, bittersweet chocolate, light wood, earthy. Taste is moderately sweet, roast, bittersweet chocolate, some earthy/grapefruit, vinous, light coffee, ash, faint cherry. Medium-full body, some stickiness. Big body and higher ABV -- seems more an IS than a Stout. Brett is virtually invisible at this point.

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Dark brown pour with a small, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. The bouquet is a malty assortment of milk chocolate, toasted nuts and almond extract - lovely. Full-bodied with zippy carbonation. The flavor presents fudge, bitter dark chocolate, toasted nuts and loads of deeply-roasted malts. Finishes crisp, roasty and bittersweet. Bottle shared by CanIHave4Beers at the throwdown with adnielsen. Poured black with a light brown head. The nose was big anise and milk chocolate. There was also a little bit of brad crust. Bottle from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours very dark brown/black with ruddy glints and a creamy/foamy dark tan head. Aroma is sweat sox, darkish fruit, darkish malt. Suggestions of prune. Med body. Flavor is chocolate, darkish burnt malt, and a very minimal brett flavor. Might not realize brett, it’s so restrained. However the drink is a good one. Finishes balanced - nearly dry. On tap at CBC 2012. Pours black with a big beige head. Quite sweet and bitter with hoppy aromas of pine with hints of resin. Also aromas of burnt and toasted malts. Light alcohol notes. Full bodied. Lively carbonation. Dry finish.
