dark sepia, small bubbled tan recedes quickly. Very dry nose, prune and light olive, bit reminiscent of the very best black alberts. Flavor is dry cake and brownie, bit of olive and licorice, end is very cake puffy dryness, incredibly dry, coating teeth. Olive notes a bit disruptive, otherwise stellar execution. Flavor is malt dominant with light hops and bitterness, dark fruity esters and a dry finish, very dry. Pours a very overcarbonated black color with a massive tan head. Sour roasted grains with a bit of chat and ash. Heavy on te roast with some dark chocolate and coffee. The flavor is also quite acidic but still heavy on the coffee and dark chocolate, and of course, roasted malt.

12oz bottle, #67. Small beige head, cola black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, cocoa, some coffee, ash. Taste is moderately sweet, roast, some coffee, ash. Medium body, low carbonation, light stickiness. Pours black with a single-finger head that eventually falls to a very thin tan cap and a fairly-thick collar. The nose has a bit of Belgian character, though I vaguely recall Brian saying that he didn’t actually use Belgian yeast in this. The nose is also slightly roasty though it has a bit of a medicinal characteristic as well. The taste is roasty and brings a slight bit of creaminess from the mouthfeel. There is also a bit of chocolate in the background. Medium body and definitely roasty throughout with a bit of dryness. No booze. Pretty good overall, though it could probably use a bit more time.

Taster from 12oz bottle, #54, courtesy kmweaver via his trade-bud ryan: Thanks to you both for this rarity. Moderate cocoa aroma with the nose of an archetypal RIP...but then goes hollow and mealy. Bottle shared by Mike and Diane. Dark brown pour with tan head. Aroma was dusty, nutty with some other mystery things I couldn’t quite put my nose to catching. Taste is almost sour, a bit funky, mild chocolate, twang, chalk, and pungent. Very fizzy carbonation. Overall very interesting brew.
