Even-toned opaque brown black with a dense crema of light brown head. Aroma is rich and raisiny, like a dubbel, but it kinda falls apart in the tasting: thin, grapey, grape-nut sourness and astringency with mild roast in the finish. $3/12oz kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 29, 2014
Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body under a one finger fizzy beige head that retained pretty well. The nose is a mix of Saison yeast, some light roast, licorice, and dark wheat. The flavor is a pretty odd mix of a Saison and Schwarzbier indeed. There’s some dark wheat notes, some thin roast, licorice, a little hint of funkiness towards the finish. Light bodied with fizzy active carbonation. Never that big of a fan of dark Saisons, and this one was even farther away from a traditional Saison. czar (9066) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - APR 29, 2014
pours unclear medium dark brown, red tint, with a nice fluffy beige head, good retention and lacing. cocoa powder, vanilla, spicy yeast, roasted coffee and chocolate, bitter coffee grinds, light tartness - lemony, citric, sourdough bread, soap - slightly perfumey, minty freshness too, belgian spices - candied coriander, pepper, orange peel, licorice. lively to average carbonation, light body, lightly tart and bitter coffee-herbal-grassy-spicy finish. awkward blend of style - will continue to drink them seperately. interesting for sure - as an experiment. obviously disliked it. lemony. soapy. roasty. spicy. Recent find, black saison. Comes across like a lighter blackbier, with some pepper. Decent enough beer to try, though nothing to grab me. jkwood04 (5448) - Connecticut, USA - APR 17, 2014
12oz bottle in a teku while listening to the cool music - much better than the Series 1 music. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of light tartness, dark malts with a little roastiness, some dark fruits, and light funk and light floral hops. Flavors don’t really blend all that well. Average texture. Sort of weird and could have been done better.

Marked "Black Saison Ale".
Dark brown to black color, big fluffy tan head. Acidic, spicy, sweet scent. Acidic, tart taste. Tart aftertaste. Fizzy mouthfeel, low bitterness.
Pour from bottle - black with small amount of head
Aroma - earthy yeast, spices, dark malt, faint smell of orange peel.
Taste - sour crab apple, yeast, burnt malt
Palate - light bodied, fizzy carbonation, long sour aftertaste.
Not a fan of this beer. It’s like eating those warheads candy. rumproasts (5359) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - APR 7, 2014
bottle. Deep brown with small head. Very malty base. A bit of tart funk in the palate, but the focus is on the roasted malt. Doesn’t really work for me. italarican (1550) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 7, 2014
On tap at Avenue Pub post-Mardi Gras. Dark, essentially black pour. Mild earthy cocoa notes with some nice dryness and belgian spice. Light and thin body. Solid overall. Dfonorow (2216) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 22, 2014
On tap. Pour is solid black with a small off-white head. Aroma is of sweet malts, yeast, wheat grain, and roasted coffee. Flavor brings out the barnyard qualities - raisins, yeast, smoke, anise.
