The aroma has a slight astringent smell to it. There are weak hints of spices with maybe a bit of licorice. It does have a powerful head that is medium brown that is black. The combination of cherry and other ingredients is weak, with a watered down taste. The combination of flavors isn’t strong, nor do they compliment each other. Bottle. The pour is deep black brown with a thin head. The Aroma is a of wet wood and sauteed greens. The taste is vegetal, dry, and slightly funky. I like saisons but this one tastes infected.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with tan head. Smells like figs, fruity. Bitter, light body, tobacco, nuts, touch of tartness. Lots of carbonation- quite lively. Good. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JAN 16, 2014
Bottle:   Deep dark brown, ruby highlights, small sudsy light beige head, spotty lacing.   Has that black malt like aroma.   Not sure about the saison part.   Faint herbal notes, a touch shrubby.   Black malt like shrubbiness on the tongue, a touch earthy.   Could stand to be sweeter.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Not a real fan of this one.   A touch dry, chalky, with a herbal black malt profile.   Nothing special here as far as I am concerned.

Bottle thanks to Smoky. Pours deep brown with coarse tan head, settles quickly with almost no lacing. Aroma is sweet, fruity, plum, and yeasty. Flavor is fruity and sweet, apple, grape, and plum, with a mild spice and alcohol finish. Mildly bitter aftertaste. More saison than schwarzbier. Soft carbonation, medium body, and juicy texture. Poured from a bottle. Pours black with tan head. Has a weird smell. Has medium body in the mouth. Alcohol taste is present. Has some oak, and sweet tastes. ajnepple (6840) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 29, 2013
12 oz bottle purchased at the Proper Pour. Brown/black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, herbal hops, Belgian yeast and fruity esters. Similar flavor, malty with light chocolate. Medium body with a creamy feel and low carbonation. Not that good but not offensive, either. jhp40219 (449) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - DEC 28, 2013
12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with a light tan head and a good amount of sticky lacing. Strong aroma of malts and hops. Getting dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, licorice, as well as some earthy hops and dark fruits like plum and raisin. Taste is much stronger than the aroma lets on with a candy/sugary sweetness up front with dark fruit coming in strong beside it. Also getting biscuits, toffee, and caramel. Slightly sour. Long bitter finish of earthy hops and toasty malts. Slick, sticky texture, high carbonation. Certainly an interesting beer. Almost more of a cross between a Belgian and a saison. Definitely a sipper. Nothing I could drink more than two in a sitting. But definitely different and interesting. Lubiere (14126) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 14, 2013
A clear dark brown saison with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with dark fruits, herbaceous character, wild weed and molasses. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with light grassy character, licorice, light curacao. Overall, interesting. Sampler at Battle of the Belgians at Jimmys 43.
