COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bonnie Stillwatter is a conceptual collaboration of artistry and friendship between Will Oldham (aka Bonnie ’Prince’ Billy), experimental rock group Watter (featuring a member of Grails), and Stillwater Artisanal, a nomadic brewer that mixes equal parts art and alcohol. This collaboration is an inspired one, the roots of which are a mutual respect and love, and the fruits of which are two side-long trips into dark cinematic folk-rock determined to find the light at the end of the tunnel. "The Devil Is People" begins not unlike the east-meets-west melancholy of Watter and Grails. Oldham’s penchant for weaving singer with song is particularly resonant here; his first- person storytelling has an uncanny way of sounding communal – almost hymnal – when wrapped in ever-unfolding layers of warm sound. On the b-side, mercurial multi-instrumentalist/producer Bundy K. Brown (Tortoise, Gastr del Sol) explodes "The Devil Is People", rearranging and reinterpreting its multitude of instruments and voices into something more sinister – less a remix, more like a vital new limb growing from the belly of the beast.

glennmastrange (2980) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - NOV 26, 2016
Bottle. Light hay and cereal for the malt, light to moderate grass and faint lemon syrup for the hops, light musty farmhouse and dried leaves for the yeast, with wood, oaked chardonnay, sour apple and cider vinegar in the background. Head is small, fizzy, slightly off-white, with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is murky amber/tan. Flavor starts heavily acidic and acetic, then finishes moderately acidic, faintly bitter and sour. Palate is light to medium, watery with a fizzy carbonation and a tart finish. A really nice Gose with a lot of complexity.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a copper hue and a white head that dissipates nearly completely. Aroma has a strong sour lemon note with a light smokiness and a bit of yogurt. Flavor has a light smoke and grain up front with a strong sour lemon note and a hint of yogurt underlying.

Bottle:   Straw colored, large fluffy white head, decent lacing.   Soft tart and salty wheaty nose.   Tart right up front, but also a little sweet and salty.   Nice balance.   Wheaty, but also a little mealy.   Getting a smidgen of smoke from this one too.   I almost want to say band-aid, but it comes and go so quickly.   Nice body for a Gose too.   Clean and bright finish, spritzy, tart, and just well balanced.   I like how bright this one is.   Pretty nifty with that touch of smoke too.   Lingering sweet and saltiness, tart.   Feels good on the tongue too.   Nice one!

kraddel (9669) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - SEP 13, 2016
Bottle. Pours clear blonde, small white head. Smell is fruity, bit sweet even, mild sourness, some salty aspects. Taste is very dry, fruity, some lemon, and even some orange. Don’t really get the smokyness I was afraid for. mild sourness. lactic sourness. Too dry , perhaps, but manageable. yet a whome bottle is too much.

(Rating #6663)

22 ounce bottle, no dating on it that I was able to find. Served in a mug, the beer pours a slightly hazy gold color with about an inch white head that fizzled away quickly. Not much lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like lemon, citrus peel, wheat/grainy malt and some white grapes. I didn’t pick up any smoke in the aroma, but it shows up a little bit in the taste. I think it’s a mostly tart tasting brew, with lemon, citrus peel, green apple, lime, wheat/grainy malt, smoke and earthy flavors. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it’s refreshing and easy to drink with a good amount of carbonation. I thought this was good, but I wish the smoke in this was stronger. With that being said, it’s certainly worth picking up if you like tart/sour ales. $10.99 a bomber.

Poured from a bomber. A real nice golden cloudy pour with a thick frothy head. The nose is of citrus peel not overly sweet. I did not get any smoke as the title indicates. Taste has a nice sour citrus tone, with a nice tart bite. The was tart and did mot linger and kill my pallette. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
