Poured from the bottle into a La Fin Du Mode stemmed glass.
The color is a clear yellow/gold with two fingers of foamy white head and some nice lacing left on the glass.
The smell is filled with grapefruit aroma and has a real juicy fruit flavor. The hops seem to be right down the center and pops several times. There is a nice lemongrass aroma that makes the mouth water for a taste.
The taste of this beer is giving the grapefruit flavor that was promised by the name. The bitterness hangs over this beer like a canopy with some touches of earthy grass flavor mixed in a grainy center. The bitterness comes back towards the end to slow down things like a speed bump.
The feel of this beer is medium bodied with a nice drinkable, refreshing feel. A great I PA that brings the flavor and is quite enjoyable.

Pours a nice golden color with a foamy white head. Huge aroma of orange, lemon, grapefruit, melon, and pine, Also a bit of hay. Huge notes of grapefruit in the taste. Lots of citrus and small amount of pine. Very bitter, nice hop selection leaves your mouth nice and bitter. Slight maltiness forms the backbone of this beer. Really nice mouth feel. Very refreshing. Awesome IPA. rolimcarmo (11) - - AUG 25, 2014
Gold, orange, nice white head and retention. Sweet aroma like candy and grapefruit. Taste: honey like, grapefruit slam! Nice and firm bitterness in the end. jonnyguns (1105) - AUSTRALIA - AUG 22, 2014
Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with firm white head. Nose is grapefruit as you'd expect, citrus and a honey sweetness. Taste is really bitter! Grapefruit up front and citrus. Bitterness lingers.

Serving: 22 oz. bottle. Slightly hazy dark gold pour with a very small white head. Huge citrus nose with lots of grapefruit. West coast bitter and dry on the tongue. Plenty of grapefruit to go around with a long finish. Nice twist on things for Stone, but truly Stone aggressive with the hops.

The Grapefruit Slam IPA pours a mostly clear light orange with a thick frothy ivory head that lasts good while. The aroma is grapefruit, pine with a bit of caramel and bread. The flavor is predominantly grapefruit and pine but caramel and bread is also noticeable. Overall this is a pretty solid beer. radio_nowhere (1472) - Maryland, USA - AUG 10, 2014
Draft at Madrones in Frederick, MD served in a snifter glass, light orangy-amber color with off-white head. Aroma of heavy grapefruity/piney hops. Taste adds some citrus zest and sweet malt balance. Medium-heavy body, moderate carbonation, sticky with bitter grapefruity finish. Lives up to its name. Funkatrocious (119) - - AUG 6, 2014
Pour from bottle. Short white head. Real good. Bitter Grapefruity piney palate. Enjoyed thoroughly.

Aroma is grapefruit, other citrus hops that are not overwhelming and sweet malt. Very nice golden color with lots of bone colored foam and tiny bubbles rising to the top. Taste is what you would expect - grapefruit and hops. Has a good malt backbone and it needs it as the hops are quite strong. If you prefer citrus hops over pine, this one is for you. Alcohol is well hidden. It’s hard to make a unique IPA anymore, but Stone has done just that. Ktwse (5247) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 25, 2014
Pours cloudy golden yellow with low white head. Aroma of grapefruit (duh!), citrus, pine, light peach and mango. Taste is fruity bitter up front, followed by lingering bitter finish, slightly astringent and medicinal. Not much balancing sweetness here. Body is light and crisp with soft carbonation. Oh, and the bitter finish lasts forever.
