COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A deliciously creamy stout in the Irish tradition. This deep, coffee-colored beer has the aroma and flavor of chocolate, roasted oats and coffee with a rich tan head. Specially brewed for Trader Joe’s.

Formerly brewed by Goose Island, late 2010/early 2011 saw this beer’s production move to Gordon Biersch.

Bottle into an English pint, ruby in color small rapidly diminishing light brown head that lacked much lacing at all.Malt aroma was average with notes of chocolate and cola. Medium mouth but a bit thin and lively for an oatmeal stout. Not a bad session stout.

Dark black. Foamy tan head. Creamy. Mild chocolate. Not sweet. Really, this is a 3.35? This is a decent, not a 4, but a decent sweet stout.

Excellent beer from Trader Joe's. Will definitely buy again, if I can find it. Dark stout. Smooth after taste. Glad it was suggested by a Trader Joe's manager. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Far more lactose-based than oatmeal-based, to me at least, with a thinner-than-expected body and bittersweet chocolate taste. Poured to an uncommonly huge head with a lot of carbonation. Just OK.

Bottle from Trader Joe’s. It pours a dark brown color with a creamy light brown head. The aroma is a bit acidic with heavy dark malts. A little coffee-like with some buttered toffee and nuts .The flavor is full bodied and very creamy on the palate. Lots of dark malts with heavy roast in the finish. Overall, it has more of a toasted malt profile except for the finish which borders on burnt. I’m not getting the acidity I picked up in the aroma, which is a good thing in my book. A bit of a simplistic beer, but not bad.

Pours like oil. SMells like oatmeal and tastes even more so. An oatmeal stout that delivers on its namesake.
