Pour on tap at Falling Rock’s Vertical Epic event, clear orange pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of grape, peach, pear, slight cardboard, hints of dms unfortunately, hints of biscuit, corn, slight bourbon notes but fairly hidden. Taste is similar, slight bready, caramel, toffee, some grape, pear, hints of peach, more dms comes through, finishing fairly sweet, slightly bitter.

A - rich copper orange pour w low off white head. S - sweet rich bourbon and vanilla, grassy citrus peel. Notes of almond extract, lemon and peel and poopy seed. M - rich full mf, creamy round, bitter and tangy. T - bourbon and vanilla up front, quickly to a bitter tangy candied citrus pine and grass. Lingering caramel malty and notes of fruit cake. O - interesting barrel ipa. Nice bourbon to a malt heavy ipa. 3.8 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Stone. Side by side with 08.08.08. Poured a deeper color, amberish, cloudy, slight whisp of head. Similar to standard version with some citrus, funky yeast but with vanilla, oak, some bourbon. Much smoother drink.

JohnnyJ (5569) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 15, 2012
Draft at Stone Bistro. Clear medium gold pour, with a short white head. Bourbon, oak, fruit sweetness, caramel, tangerine, and apple. Enjoyable and different than the usual dark beer in bourbon barrel. It works pretty well.

badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - DEC 12, 2012
On tap at brewery. Clear golden with a fizzy off white head. Sweet caramel, vanilla, bourbon, oak, grapefruit, apple, and grape aroma and taste with a silky palate and a clean bourbon and caramel finish. Outstanding.

j12601 (13027) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - NOV 14, 2010
Pouring at session one of Belgian Beer Fest in Boston. Pours a just clear orange gold with a thin white head. Sweet bourbon on the nose. Toast, bourbon sweetness and a lightly herbal spiciness. Bourbon and wood on the end with a lingering woody tang.

Orange pour, Aroma is zesty, belgian yeast, some subdued hops, light oak, some orange peel. Mouthfeel is nice and creamy, flavor continues with a nice belgian ipa style that ends a bit dry, oaky. Interesting, but I can say that I think I would rather have this fresh than barreled.

Tap at Stone 14th. Golden color with some white head. Yeasty bready nose with some fruitiness. Flavors of the original brew but with the bourbon wood quality lightly in the background. Not a desirable combo with a golden hoppy belgian style ale in my book. Preferred the fresh 8-8-08
