Served on tap at Winter Storm 2011. The appearance is a deep red/black hue with a good sized creamy tan head. The nose is pretty spicy with red wine, oak, tannins, and Belgium yeast. The flavors are creamy malts, and yeast, coriander?, wine, tannins. The red wine really suits the base beer. Well done. nightrider (754) - encinitas, California, USA - FEB 6, 2011

Pours dark chocolatey brown with a thin tan head, specks of lace. Smells of bitter, roasted malts with a hint of fruit. Tastes roasty and malty with some chocolate and a mellow fruit character. Ok. Medium, full, chalky body, good carbonation. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - FEB 3, 2011
Growler from Ken and Anne. Thanks, guys. Black with a beautiful creamy light brown head. Fruit, citrus, and chocolate aroma with notes of cola nut. Tastes of chocolate, fruit, citrus, slight vanilla, a hint of wine?, maybe some oak?, nice flavors overall, well combined, and subtle. Good creamy palate. The red wine character shows more on the back end as it warms. StefanSD (2451) - Ouray, Colorado, USA - JAN 26, 2011
Swingtop Stone bottle at BA line tasting. Thanks to whoever brought this. Pours a dark brown color with a small tan head. Aroma was soft with dark fruits, anise and roasted grains. The flavor was rich and complex with mixed dark fruits, toasted grains, wood and a bit of port wine. The palate was smooth and creamy with soft carbonation. Finishes long, dry and very mellow. Overall: Good stuff.

Pouring at session one of Belgian Beer Fest in Boston. Pours a just clear brown with a thin tan head. Roast, toast, char on the nose. The wine barrel is hidden pretty well, slight wood notes, but nothing really vinuous. Chewy roast and char, loads of roast flavors. Toast, roast, and more wood on the finish. 1st rating. Dark, dark brown pour, almost black, but not quite. Small tan head. Fruit, chocolate, roasted malt, berry, oak, and the strong belgian style porter is definitely there, but the red wine grape flavor is more faint, it’s in there, but close to the untreated version, or maybe I need to revisited the 090909.
