COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ninth edition of our Stone Vertical Epic Ale series takes two interesting left turns. A Belgian-style golden triple is the starting point of this beer, but the first left turn is nearly immediate with the addition of dried chamomile flowers, triticale, and Belgian amber candi sugar. The second, and rather unusual left turn takes us half an hour up the road from Stone to Temecula courtesy of the addition of just-pressed Muscat, Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc grapes from our friends at South Coast Winery. As the Stone Vertical Epic Ale series has moved through the calendar, we found that the brewing schedule for a 10.10.10 release coincided nicely with the grape harvest, neatly providing an interesting twist in this epic ale.

I was surprised to find this on tap 1/9/14. Pours a hazy orange-golden color with light head. Aroma is full of sweet fruit (apricot) and grapes with Belgian yeast and some caramel toffee. Taste is slightly sweet with floral and spicy overtones. Finish has some tartness. Body is medium with slight carbonation. I hated to see this one finish.

Bomber pour 2nd installment in 09-12 tasting..quite light color compared to 09..has some vinous notes in the nose to coincide with the Belgian triple action..nose is slightly sweet with rum butter quality..good offering totally different than 09 to say the least..

Poured to NB globe during tasting of 06-10 VE’s. A: golden apple juice ale. Little head production. Evident carb from the base. S: Grape and grain. Light hints of chamomile as it warms. Otherwise the entirety is accented by the belgian yeast. T: Grapes, belgian yeast. Too much fruit for me in this one. Maybe tone down in a year or two. M: High carbonation, light body for this kind of ABV. Dries the mouth. D: Too sweet at this time. One and done for me on this one. Serving type: bottle 02-22-2011 1

Riktigt gott men kanske lite enkelspårigt.

Bomber. Nose of a golden tripel with vanilla and dusty, musty fruit -- I do get grapiness, but it’s more like a Saison than wine. Beautiful rich golden-orange body with a short white head. Taste is tart with jammy fruit, principally white grape and strong apricot, but also some orange marmalade and honey, sweet but controlled, very little bitterness. Clean, full body, little carbonation, distinct candi sugar effect but not too minerally, and there’s a deft pale herbal character (though I wouldn’t think to call it chamomile). Alcohol better integrated than the previous editions in this series, which is a nice compliment. At this point, the showy additions aren’t showy, but as a strong, fruity tripel with vinous touches on the margin, this is a rousing success.

Tap at Draught 55. Poured a straw yellow/golden with a small white head. Aromas of citrus, grapes and sour fruit. Taste is fucking sour with a fruity citrus backing. Toffee malts come at the end to add sweetness. Almost a grape bubblegum taste about it. Different shit-not my thing though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Notes from 2011 -- From the bottle it pours a transluscent golden yellow w/ white head. Smells slightly carmelly white a little grape on the nose. Crisp flavor of carmel, grapes, slight alcohol bite with citrus on the tongue. Very nice, would love to drink multiples.

Bottle sample at Stone tasting at Beer&Beyond shop. Thanks ariel. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma of sweet fruits and grapes, a bit spicy with some floral notes. Taste - sweet flavor, raisins, white wine, light cherries-like tartness, spicy. Medium-bodied, a bit syrupy.

22 oz bottle from Evergreen Discount. Peachy red and cloudy with a small white head that diminishes to nothing. Aroma and flavor of white wine, grapes, dark fruit, Belgian yeast, musty juice, floral hops, fruity esters, light candy sugar and alcohol. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Strong and boozy with a medium to full body, low carbonation and a warming finish.
