COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ninth edition of our Stone Vertical Epic Ale series takes two interesting left turns. A Belgian-style golden triple is the starting point of this beer, but the first left turn is nearly immediate with the addition of dried chamomile flowers, triticale, and Belgian amber candi sugar. The second, and rather unusual left turn takes us half an hour up the road from Stone to Temecula courtesy of the addition of just-pressed Muscat, Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc grapes from our friends at South Coast Winery. As the Stone Vertical Epic Ale series has moved through the calendar, we found that the brewing schedule for a 10.10.10 release coincided nicely with the grape harvest, neatly providing an interesting twist in this epic ale.

22 oz. bottle served in shaker- poured a transparent darkened yellow color, medium carbonation. No head, aroma of vinegar, funk, and yeast- meh. Hits the mouth with a medium body, my entire mouth just got coated in vinegar- ERROR ERROR... funk on the backend, but it’s hard to tell with all the vinegar. Fail. Scratch that, FUCKING FAIL.

Backlog, Bottle from Capones, pours a orange color with a 2-3 finger head. Lasting lace. Aromas and flavor were dark fruit, belgian yeast and candy sugar, fig, vanilla, cocoa, and flowers. Lots of sweet malts in the nose and flavor. Alright but preferred the 09 version.

Many thanks to Erzengel for sharing! A clear deep golden beer with a small white head. Aroma of strong pale malt, some apples, grains, belgian yeast. Taste of strong pale malt, riped pale fruits, some apples, dry malty finish.

Intense fruity thick rich nose. The beer starts sweetish and rich. Sourish hints, not too deep. Sessionable and a bit alcoholic. Fresh smooth, slightly sourish. The aftertaste is round and refreshing, dry honey, not too deep in body. The winey hints are there, but not too intense, the grain is in the foreground.

Bottle, finally rating this. Clear golden copper color with a small white head. Aroma is sweet, Belgian yeast, notes of honey and muscat, floral notes. The flavor has a nice sugar/honey/muscat sweetness with a yeasty finish. Medium-full bodied, average carbonation. Pretty good for the series.

Is a really good and intense ale. By the time we had this is was 6 years old and held up.

Pours almost clear golden with very little foam N: grapey. Sweet grapes. This is like sauternes if it wasn’t for the light spicy yeast character T: the taste is wonderfully winey and sweet. Gewürstraminer or something. Only getting lightly drying in the aftertaste. Funny stuff.

Had this sometime at the end of 2012, as part of a 03.03.03 - 12.12.12 tasting. I had meant to enter these a while ago while they were fresh and add a few extra details, but that didn’t happen. Review from notes. Anyway, here we go. 3.5 A: Mildly hazed light orange color. Short head falls quickly. 4.0 S: Nice nose on this. Herbal camomille backbone. Vinous white grapiness. Super peppery. Smells like a more than solid saison. 3.5 T: Like the nose, but less depth. Still quite nice though. Lots of pepper with plenty of overall spiciness. White vinous grape, oak, and vanilla. Maybe a touch of banana. 3.5 M: Lighter medium body. Good spritzy carbonation. 3.5 D: Not bad. ★ 696 characters DavoleBomb, Jan 17, 2015

Bottle. It poured a cloudy copper color with a tan head. The aroma was fruity and malty. The taste was of biscuit, grass, grape, spice and a hint of bubblegum. Tasty.
