Bottle pour at home,pick this up last year in san diago at the stone store, love the virtual epic series, definitely still good, cloudy copper pour, a good red wine aroma with wood nots, little sweet to start, hint of a sour funck on the end, that definitely came out a little more when I let the tannins breath (wine jock). Pours cloudy dark amber/tawny with average, frothy off-white head; decent retention and lacing. Aroma is red wine, sour fruit, caramel and cookie malts, floral hops, and some herbs and spices. Flavor is sweet, bready malts forward with supporting red wine notes, mixed berries, light floral hops, light vanilla, and some oak; dry finish. "Not an improvement over the far cheaper base beer, so definitely a one timer for me. I did enjoy it, though. Stone red wine barrels seem to have a very distinct fruity character that was an interesting choice for this copper colored pepper and cinnamon Belgian. the flavors that would seem to clash worked together well, but for that price something needs to knock your socks off."

Bottle... Hazy caramel pour with a small, white head. Decent retention. The bouquet is vinous, tangy and loaded with caramel. Full-bodied with stinging carbonation. The flavor is an intermingling of caramel, red wine, tanginess, oak and alcohol. Finishes tannicly bitter with a comforting alcohol warmth. I got neither chilies nor cinnamon out of this. 500 mL bottle from the Best Damn Beer Shop in San Diego, served in a stem glass alongside the base and 12-12-12 at a tasting at Dan’s. Pours slightly reddish caramel with a medium tan head that remains and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has big red wine and oak notes along with toffee, caramel, flowers, banana and subtle notes of pepper and cinnamon. The flavour is medium sweet with red grapes, banana, toffee and flowers along with subtle pepper and cinnamon. The finish is long and malty with toffee, red grapes, banana and subtle pepper-spice. On the palate it is medium-full in body with a smooth, creamy texture and average carbonation.
