Bomber. Pours a deep, but clear, garnet with frothy khaki head. The aroma is raisin and obvious peppers, hints of cinnamon and clove, some very distant notes of port and toffee. The flavor is raisin, toast, and a very savory pepper quality. I don’t get much heat, but a whole lot of roasted vegetable. The finish is woody and actually a bit vinous. There are some miscellaneous spicy notes in there, but it’s lost behind all the pepper. Not bad, but I’d rather it up the capsaicin content. Having just the roasted pepper flavor without the heat makes it kinda weird. I bet this would be great for cooking, though...

pours a hazy amber with a light fizz. Aroma is smoky and earthy. Flavor is full of chilli and malt.

Bottle, 75 cl - Red amber beer with a large frothy disappearing head. Aroma is malty with notes of banana muffins, spices and apples. Flavor is malty with notes of minerals, pears and apples. High potential, although at this point it isn’t really quite finished maturing.

Begins with sweet caramel malt with a sweet n’ sour honey molasses flavor cutting in. It is nudged at the finish with a bittersweet peppery cinnamon overlay. Lots of movement here, with a multitude of flavors. Interesting the whole way through.

Draft. Beautiful ruby color. Smells of malt and slightly sour as it warms. Mostly chaulky yeast flavor and texture with a warmth from the chilli cinnamon and booze. Not super inviting but nice. Cinnamon is expressed subtly but is a backbone throughtout.

Tap at Churchill’s, San Marcos. It pours deep amber, with a decent beige head. The nose is banana, chilli pepper, earth, cinnamon and caramel. The taste is caramelised banana, caramel, toasted malt, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, some chilli pepper, wood and earth, with some bitterness in the finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. An interesting brew for sure, but I just don’t thing the balance is quite right.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours cloudy orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is chili and light dry cinnamon. Sweet caramelish, spiced and with a small bite. Medium dry, malty and light caramelish. Toasted malty and light vegetable chili touch into the finish.

Bottle. Strong head on dark copper. A very nice amber ale with a light residual spiciness.

Pours to a reddish orange hue - head is not enormous, but lots of lacing is left as it evaporates - more than typical. Smell is phenolic and fruity, as one might expect from a Belgian Strong. Heavy-bodied with orange fruit, yeast, chile spice, a bit of brown sugar, cinnamon, and noticeable alcohol kick at the end with a tinge of bitterness and malts. Solid, but not outstanding, example of the style. A worthy attempt by Stone, but not at the level of Chimay. Too much alcohol burn at the end, and a bit over-bodied at the start, but the complexity in the middle makes it recommendable at any rate - certainly not faulted for lacking flavor!

Pours a brown color. Had a malty taste. Pretty decent beer. Had the 2010 version of this beer. Good
