COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As with any good epic, herein lies the promise of larger-than-life experiences, heroics, and twists and turns as the adventure unfolds. This bottle-conditioned ale is chapter eleven. Now is the time to enjoy it in a vertical tasting side by side with its ten Stone Vertical Epic Ale brethren! Each one unique to its year of release. Each with its own twist & turn in the plot line. Each one released one year, one month and one day from the previous years edition. This years Stone Vertical Epic Ale is the very last one. Yep, this is it. The final chapter. Or as they say on the last slide in some old films: Fin. No worries though: this edition is particularly well-suited for prolonging the experience, as its as cellarable as any in the series, or more. In this, the final edition, you can expect a perfectly balance *womp* of spices: cinnamon, ginger, allspice, sweet orange peel, clove (only a little!) and rosehips, all in the context of a dark Belgian style abbey-ish beerbut not as sweet. Dry even. Stone style. Thanks for coming on this Epic Stone-style journey with us! You can rest assured there will be new adventures to come

Pours black with a thin tan head. Intense aroma of spices. Clove, All spice, cinnamon. It is a little too intense for my liking. It's like drinking a scented candle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle thanks to Nick at CP&K. It pours near black with a medium tan head. The nose is smoke, bonfire, earth, spice (particularly cinnamon), treacle, touch of soy sauce and some dark fruit. The taste is pretty spicy, earth, wood, earth, touch of bitter chocolate, soy sauce, decent bitterness, warming alcohol, roasted malt and toast with a dry, spicy finish. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Interesting, but ultimately I dont find it that drinkable.

22oz bottle. Dark brown almost black with a foamy tan head. Aroma of pie spice, chocolate, anise and some alcohol. Flavor is chocolate malt, spicy yeast esters, light bitterness and no alcohol. Medium body with a soft mouth feel. Pretty good beer, fairly spicy but not overly so.

Foxbush (1894) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - APR 3, 2013
22oz bottle The Epic poured a clear dark reddish brown nearly black with a small brown head. This is a very different ale. The nose picks up cloves and cinnamon. The ale is medium bodied with soft carbonation. There are flavors of caramel, allspice, cinnamon, and clove. I also noted some dark chocolate. The finish lingers in your mouth with the dominate cloves. This is definitely an interesting beverage, but the spices obscure beer like flavors.

Jow (3648) - New York, USA - APR 3, 2013
Tap at Stagshead. Pours deep porter like brown with purplish head. Nice nose of Christmas spices. Tastes of super yeast, cloves, peppercorns, all spice, ginger, peaches, figs, and a whole lotta root beer. Quite delicious

dreadnord (1012) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 3, 2013
Pours thick and black with a thick brown head. The nose is heavy chocolate, anise, pumpkin, and graham crackers. The taste is heavy sweet and heavy bitter with the bitter dominating the end. The texture is creamy yet becomes astringent and dry, the body is medium and the finish is long. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aromas of cinnamon, allspice, ginger, subtle oregano, and fennel. Black with a mostly fading, tan head. Flavors of coffee, soy, and cinnamon; dry, savory, and bitter. Medium-full bodied with low-moderate carbonation, and a dry, licorice-like finish.
