COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As with any good epic, herein lies the promise of larger-than-life experiences, heroics, and twists and turns as the adventure unfolds. This bottle-conditioned ale is chapter eleven. Now is the time to enjoy it in a vertical tasting side by side with its ten Stone Vertical Epic Ale brethren! Each one unique to its year of release. Each with its own twist & turn in the plot line. Each one released one year, one month and one day from the previous years edition. This years Stone Vertical Epic Ale is the very last one. Yep, this is it. The final chapter. Or as they say on the last slide in some old films: Fin. No worries though: this edition is particularly well-suited for prolonging the experience, as its as cellarable as any in the series, or more. In this, the final edition, you can expect a perfectly balance *womp* of spices: cinnamon, ginger, allspice, sweet orange peel, clove (only a little!) and rosehips, all in the context of a dark Belgian style abbey-ish beerbut not as sweet. Dry even. Stone style. Thanks for coming on this Epic Stone-style journey with us! You can rest assured there will be new adventures to come

Thick black pour. Oily. Aroma is of dark chocolate, hint of coffee, and caramel. Flavor is bold, some alcohol comes through. Heavy mouth feel. A good beer but about a bottle is enough.

Bottle sample at a Vertical Epic tasting at Mastikim. Thanks Ariel. Pours black, opaque with tan wave. Spicy - clove, nutmeg, some allspice and burnt aroma, dry and very mildly bitter in the mouth. Full body, some fizz.

Very dark brown pour. Nose of sweet, roasted malts, spice and dark fruits. Flavors similar- spicy, cooked fruits, Belgian fruity yeast, dark malts. Finished w/ a strong, dry hop bitterness.

From the bottle, pours like crude oil with a thick foamy tan head. Aroma is reminiscent of a pumpkin ale. Sweet notes of pumpkin pie spice, vanilla, alcohol, sweet malt. Thick and creamy with a roasted maltiness up front, some dark chocolate, some winter ale spices, fading to an earthy maltiness with distinctive alcohol flavors. Finishes lightly bitter with a bite that makes you want another gulp. A very fine beer.

22oz bomber into a 16.9oz stemmed belgian glass while super storm Nemo wrecks the east coast. Pours a stout dark black, likeness to mild tar and pleasant carcoal. Thick and foamy medium head the covers the liquid nicely and then separates and glisens around the top. Taste is tart cherry, cinnamon, fig pie, dark cherry candies/dinner mints, and sugared peppermint.. Outstanding in the depths that the flavours mesh together while masking the abv wonderfully. My first take on the vertical series, its unfortunate I missed out on the rest. Pepper hits the noes constantly as this one goes down as well. Full bodied, with a dry begining countered by a balanced spice attack. Fulfilling, genuine, and tasty. Glad I picked this one up.

Pours black color with large off white head. Very sweet smell and taste. I can tell a lot of spices went into this beer. Overall a good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice aroma of caramel and toffee malt, ripe fruit, spices, cinnamon. The appearance is deep brown, deep tan head, like an impy stout. The flavor is a bit spicier, bread dough, rye bread, fruit. The aroma was better. Nice thick body, creamy mouthfeel. The finish is spices, cinamon, orange peel. spices start off nice and subtle in the aroma, a bit overpowering in the flavor, and over the top on the finish. Still, nice beer, nice looking, with a nice thick body.

Super spicy aroma, Christmas cloves in my face. Hmm, way too heavy on the spices in the aroma & taste. Booze at the end. Bleh.

Great looking beer, jet black with a nice tan head and decent lacing. Smell of Thanksgiving spice pumpkin pie. Was hoping the taste was there but too much spice in my opinion. Dry and thick with an aftertaste of cinnamon and allspice that overpowers. Not my thing.

Belgian Christmas ale from Stone anyone? Big body, fruity, sweet, slight roast, and a big sweet, dry finish. Good stuff, does not need to age, CONSUME!
