Near black pour, slight tan head. Smells great, tons of spices but none dominating. Cinnamon and ginger mostly with some citrus and spicy Belgian yeast. Flavor is smooth and balanced - spiced but not overpowering. SHIG (4962) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - DEC 25, 2012
Bottle: poured a deep black with a one finger tan to light brown head. Aroma is rich roasted malts and coriander. Taste is full of spices, dark chocolate, and roasted malt.

Stone Vertical Epic 12.12.12 from a bomber, poured straight in a Chimay glass. This is what I look for in a winter holiday beer. It's a dark ale or almost a porter with holiday spices. Beautiful dark color, quickly disappearing espresso head, smooth body, very little carbonation, with notes of chocolate, molasses, nutmeg.

Sampled on Christmas Eve 2012 with Kristen. Clear dark mahogany with ample light tan head. Nose of sweet orange citrus, light roast. Flavor is more like ginger, honey, clove, allspice, roast - Reminds me a great deal of Hardywood GBS -but not quite as sweet. This is actually quite tasty, and might be one of my favorites of the series. Interested to see how it develops johnnnniee (4312) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Pours a solid dark brown/black color with a smallish tan head that quickly recedes and is stingy on the lace. Smells of clove, and nutmeg on top of a solid dark sugary base. Bits of alcohol and dark dried fruits round out the nose. The flavor is filled with lots of caramel, molasses, and burnt sugars with a heavy dark dried fruit flavor. Lots of spice here, clove, nutmeg, all spice, and cinnamon are very evident in the flavor. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a chewy burnt mouthfeel. I thought this one was all right but a bit heavy on the spices for my taste. Maybe they will tone down and I can enjoy another one just before the next apocalypse. jredmond (8285) - New York, New York, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Draft at pony bar with Linh Christmas eve 2012. Pours a deep brownish black with chocolate brown lacing. Aroma is super spicy, ton of banana, and a lot of cinnamon. Mouthfeel is medium, super spicy, ton of clove, funky banana, light cinnamon and booze. Not my thing. Rrauth (1196) - North Carolina, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Wow what an appearance. Thick brown foam that lasts forever. Nice lacing. Not very aromatic. Creamy and bitter. Nice beer.
