Poured very dark brown looking opaque and essentially black in the glass. The tan head is modest sized but has good retention.
Aroma: complex; more spicy than fruity with hints cinnamon, ginger, allspice, and clove.
Flavor: spicy but with reasonable balance for a spiced ale, and a good mix of spices.
Overall: as much an American Strong Winter Ale as Belgian Strong Dark Ale.

Vom Fass im Stone Brewing Berlin 2017-01 getrunken. Also mit Belgische Bier verbinde ich hier nun wirklich nichts. Ok bei diesen dunklen Starkbier gibt es eine deutliche Hopfennote, so das ich eher auf ein English Strong Ale tippen würde. Neben der Malznote dominiert hier eine wuchtige Note von Gewürznelken. Poured an oily black with a rich brown creamy head. The head went down fairly quickly and left some light lacing. The aroma was not shy and full of various aromas. It was full of cinnamon, molasses, nutmeg and chocolate. There was a bit of a sweetness in the aroma as well. The beer had a silky smooth texture and full of great flavors. There was a hint of a slight smoke in the beer and a hint of nuttiness. There was a light sweetness to the beer, but also a hint of dark chocolate bitterness. There was also some nutmeg and molasses in the flavor as well. This beer is very complex and the longer you drank it more flavors came out and on the finish the palate was just discovering new flavors. Excellent beer!. Bottle shared with and courtesy of an on-heat platypus on an Artic Den Haag winter’s eve. Black with a beige head. Aroma of spice, cardamom, bay leaves, curry powder, caramel and cinnamon. Flavour is above moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium to light full bodied with soft carbonation.

Thin ring tan head. Clear black pour. Herbal aftertaste.
Tap, Pours a black color with coffee head and nice lacing. Aroma is heavy on Winter spices: Sage, Christmas tree, cinnamon, plum wine and caramel malt. Dark brown, almost black with some beige bubbles on top. Aroma has some christmas spices, gingerbread and cinnamon.
