COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our latest anniversary beer, starring an all-German cast of malt and hops, is yet one more glorious example of a Stone IPA brewed outside the box. Our brewers have brought their experiments with German hops to fruition, leaving convention behind to create this hefty IPA entirely with pilsner malts. These provide a superbly crisp mouthfeel, while a unique mix of noble and new-school hop varieties adds layers of bright, bitter flavors. Despite the daunting name, this beer isn’t designed to bring about the end of the world, but it just might destroy some of your preconceived notions of what an IPA can be.

Hops bill: Bitter-hopped with Magnum Late kettle additions: Herkules, Merkur and Opal Whirlpool: Emerald (aka Smaragd) and Strisselspalt from the Alsace region of France, which is just a stone’s throw across the Rhine from the German border. Dry-hopped with a 50/50 blend of German Hersbrucker and Sterling

Malt bill: Weyerman Pilsner Malt, Briess GoldPils Vienna

Golden orange pour with a fluffy white head. A nice citrus, lemon zest, and some doughy yeast. Nice and spicy earthy hops with a nice citrus and dry finish. Pretty tasty brew.

On tap at TAPS in Petaluma. Pours even gold with a white head. Strange lactose aroma with strawberry cheesecake notes. Flavor bears it out, crazy fruitiness and a sort of milky body. There are more typical IPA notes too, bitter piney resin especially. Strange beer but I kinda like it.

22oz bottle pours a hazy orange color with a nice white head. Aromas of lemon zest, grapefruit, light bread notes. Medium bodied, crisp and chewy at the same time, interesting.

Pours a gold orange with medium large white head. Smell is massive orange, almost like a dreamsicle, with some spicy, floral and grapefruit notes as well. Taste is actually strange, I for some reason cannot get the orange dreamsicle flavor out of my mind. Orange, citrus, sweet cream. Very different IPA feel and taste, but I dig.

If you buy one, but two. I drag this last week and forgot to rate it. Was very similar to Ruination ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer was recommended to me; enjoy it but I'm not sure I would get it if I also had a chance to have ruination ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Growler fill from brewery. Pours a mostly clear golden amber hue with two fingers of off-white foam showing good retention. AROMA of very spicy and fragrant hops, earthy-grainy malts, grass, pine/spruce, and some stone fruit. FLAVOR full of spicy and earthy hops with additional notes of pine resin, fresh-cut grass, citrus, and some balancing caramel malts (though the hops certainly win here). Moderately bitter but with a VERY dry finish. The high ABV is completely concealed here. Stone produces yet another great hoppy ale. This one is kind of an anomaly since the noble hops are so prevalent, but it’s great to see Stone explore this "other" / traditional kind of hops, and with the usual Stone abandon. (79, 808)

Bottle @ home picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a bit hazy, dull golden orange appearance with a cream colored head. Grapefruit, tropical fruit, cream, sweet grain, bread in the nose all with a bit of spiciness. A little chewy, toasted bready, cracker, slightly tangy, herbal hoppy, slightly dank flavor with a slight veggie note. Probably my least favorite IPA released by Stone to date.
