COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our latest anniversary beer, starring an all-German cast of malt and hops, is yet one more glorious example of a Stone IPA brewed outside the box. Our brewers have brought their experiments with German hops to fruition, leaving convention behind to create this hefty IPA entirely with pilsner malts. These provide a superbly crisp mouthfeel, while a unique mix of noble and new-school hop varieties adds layers of bright, bitter flavors. Despite the daunting name, this beer isn’t designed to bring about the end of the world, but it just might destroy some of your preconceived notions of what an IPA can be.

Hops bill: Bitter-hopped with Magnum Late kettle additions: Herkules, Merkur and Opal Whirlpool: Emerald (aka Smaragd) and Strisselspalt from the Alsace region of France, which is just a stone’s throw across the Rhine from the German border. Dry-hopped with a 50/50 blend of German Hersbrucker and Sterling

Malt bill: Weyerman Pilsner Malt, Briess GoldPils Vienna

Tap into snifter. Golden yellow, small had of fine bubbles sticking to edge of glass, off white.intense hops nose, pine and grapefruit dominate.well balanced with a solid malt flavor up front, some middle grain, almost like a good bourbon, hops come in in the back and finishes with braving pine and a bit of residual sweetness. Well balanced for the amount of alcohol and hops

Smells of malt. Medium retention and some lacing. Not overly hoppy or malty. Smooth in the finish, but bitter in the aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Hazy straw yellow with a white head. Sweet fruits and citrus hops in the nose. Pine, lemon rind and some floral hop bitterness. Works well.

Flavor is earthy hops, pine, resin, slight floral notes. Enjoyed 22 ounce bomber and decided not to share it with anyone. ;-)

Aroma begins with some sweet notes including honeydew melon followed by subtle floral and lemon zest notes.Bottle poured a clear golden with a small soapy white head and notable lacing. Taste is all malt upfront followed by a slightly overwhelming floral flavor leading to a bitter hoppy finish. Floral and spicey hops linger on the palate. I would label this as a miss.

Bottle. Pours a clear light amber with a small-medium head. Aroma is floral hops, cracker malt, citrus-mandarin orange and lemon. Taste is very sweet, medium bitter, with some spice. Finish is bitter and alcoholic. Medium body, soft carbonation. It’s alright.

Nice clear golden pour. Pine, citrus and grass for aroma. Heavy pine flavor with a tinge of soap. Nice heavy mouthfeel with a sharp bitter finish.

Hazy copper with thin head that fades quickly. Apricot, grapefruit, butter, pine on the nose. Orange cream and grassy bitter flavors up front fading into a long bitter floral finish. Oily/soapy mouthfeel with prickly carbonation that cuts through.

Pours clear golden orange with a decent frothy head. Aroma is butter, caramel, piney noble hops. Flavor has an initial buttery pineapple sweetness followed and balance nicely by bitter piney hops. Noble is showcased wonderfully in this one. Very drinkable, don’t notice the alcohol at all. Very nice.
