COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our latest anniversary beer, starring an all-German cast of malt and hops, is yet one more glorious example of a Stone IPA brewed outside the box. Our brewers have brought their experiments with German hops to fruition, leaving convention behind to create this hefty IPA entirely with pilsner malts. These provide a superbly crisp mouthfeel, while a unique mix of noble and new-school hop varieties adds layers of bright, bitter flavors. Despite the daunting name, this beer isn’t designed to bring about the end of the world, but it just might destroy some of your preconceived notions of what an IPA can be.

Hops bill: Bitter-hopped with Magnum Late kettle additions: Herkules, Merkur and Opal Whirlpool: Emerald (aka Smaragd) and Strisselspalt from the Alsace region of France, which is just a stone’s throw across the Rhine from the German border. Dry-hopped with a 50/50 blend of German Hersbrucker and Sterling

Malt bill: Weyerman Pilsner Malt, Briess GoldPils Vienna

22 oz bottle. Pours clear copper with frothy white head. Aroma is bread, caramel, but mostly floral and citrus hops. Taste is very bitter. Texture is oily. Great IPA by stone.

Very complex, varying from grassy to fruity, piney to tea. Golden with fine lacing, no noticable alcohol

Lingering off-white head on hazy golden orange. Big, bright lemon and orange rind nose. Sweet hops on the tongue with smooth bitterness. More citrus zest. Crisp, dry finish. Solid beer. Another proper Stone offering.

This one pours an ultra clear polished gold with a one finger bright white head. That pour is CLEAN. The nose is very clean and very hoppy, featuring loads of German hops. It smells like a super hopped pils. It drinks like one too. It’s light in body and drinks über crisp. The hop level is perfect. Stone did a great job showcasing German hops. I’m a German pils fan and this beer was spectacular. The 9.5% was well restrained as well. This is the best Stone Anny since the 12th. Pick it up while its fresh!

Decent, but underwhelming. A definitely unusual hop presence gives off a strong liquorice tone and a surprisingly mellow bitterness on the finish. I like that it’s a strong IPA that isn’t an all out assault, but the overall flavor is somewhat one-dimensional. I’d certainly have it again, but it’s nothing too special.

22oz bottle. Pours pale gold in color. Buttery hop aroma. Very unique hop aroma, spicy and bitter. Well done. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Out of bottle. Pours a very clear golden amber. Aroma is sweet and hoppy. Taste is very different. Its an ipa of sorts but just different enough that it makes you do a double take. Good beer nonetheless.

Pours a clear golden color resembling a lager. Small quickly dissipating head. Sweet malt with aromas from the European hops coming thru. Not too bitter. Alcohol is blended nicely. More grassy hop notes. It's a very good hybrid beer making a double ipa with European hops and malt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

USA bottle- Appearance- Pours a nice golden copper with a solid frothy white head. Aroma- Hops. Fruit and citrus with floral notes and a touch of pine resin. Very nice indeed. Taste- Bold hops, tastes of sweet grapefruit and burnt pine resin. Has an almost buttered cracker flavor underneath that eases into a mild bitterness with just a slight alcohol warming on the tongue. Palate- Meduim bodied, mildly carbonated. Overall- An interesting IPA. Worth a try and looking forward to next years offering.

Nice golden pour. Excellent lacing. Aroma of light pine and oranges. Flashes of ruination during first SIP, but more those German pilsner malts shine through. Another quality IPA from Stone.
