COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our latest anniversary beer, starring an all-German cast of malt and hops, is yet one more glorious example of a Stone IPA brewed outside the box. Our brewers have brought their experiments with German hops to fruition, leaving convention behind to create this hefty IPA entirely with pilsner malts. These provide a superbly crisp mouthfeel, while a unique mix of noble and new-school hop varieties adds layers of bright, bitter flavors. Despite the daunting name, this beer isn’t designed to bring about the end of the world, but it just might destroy some of your preconceived notions of what an IPA can be.

Hops bill: Bitter-hopped with Magnum Late kettle additions: Herkules, Merkur and Opal Whirlpool: Emerald (aka Smaragd) and Strisselspalt from the Alsace region of France, which is just a stone’s throw across the Rhine from the German border. Dry-hopped with a 50/50 blend of German Hersbrucker and Sterling

Malt bill: Weyerman Pilsner Malt, Briess GoldPils Vienna

A good IPA, the hops are good but could be a bit stronger. Worth grabbing the bottle to try the series, would drink again.

Pours light orange/ gold in color with dense white foam. Aromas of grassy/floral and spicy noble hops with a touch of crisp sweetness. Taste is malty and crisp with hints of toffee, floral notes, mild spice, sublte citrus and grass trimmings. Finish has a lasting, almost astringent, bittering.

Smells like strawberries and beer. Blonde color. Tastes punchy, sour, and bitter and sweet. Is that a good thing? Nice and thick palate. Overall, a weird beer that’s easy to drink.

Look: Brass orange body, 1/2 finger white head. Smell: Tropical Flowers fused with fruits (like a woman’s perfume), citrus, tobacco and faint alcohol. Taste: Floral, citric rind, spicy, fruits, tobacco, strong bitterness, mild alcohol bite. Feel: Medium body, active carbonation. Overall: 17th reminds me of a certain other beer named Victory Hop Wallop. Nothing wrong with that though the malt sweetness is a bit brighter with Stone. All the flavors and aroma are the practically the same. I sipped this and Hop Wallop came to mind. The only thing that sets them apart is the bitterness and pilsner malt sweetness. Other than that this brew is worthy. Nothing earthshattering but still very solid.

Month old bottle. Pours a clear golden orange with a 1 finger white head. Good lacing. Not your typical American IPA. It's like a cross between an IPA and good quality pilsner. Not very bitter and has a sweet malty aftertaste. A good IPA for people who don't like the bitterness associated with American IPAs. Can't tell at all that it is almost 10%. You could chug this down on a hot day then seriously buzzed. Good beer for $5.99 a bomber. Great label as well.... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft poured into a tulip. Hazy golden/amber slight white head, medium body. Very smooth with creamy mouthfeel, really good beer.

Pours a hazy orange color. Very rich flavor with German hops that aren’t noticeable. Too much malt and not enough good hop flavors. Normally I am a fan of Stone brews but this one did not hit the mark.

BelvidereIPA (140) - Belvidere, Illinois, USA - JAN 25, 2014
Pours a hazy orange/yellow with soapy, filmy head. Hop profile is interesting, spicy and very dry and bitter. Not your usual stone IPA, but I’m impressed. Not just a west coast hop brewer.

Draft. Pours golden yellow with small white head. Smell is very floral, earthy hops, orange peel. Taste follows with almost a old grapefruit notes, grassy, lemon notes. Tasty!

Very complex, varying from grassy to fruity, piney to tea. Golden with fine lacing, no noticable alcohol
