COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our latest anniversary beer, starring an all-German cast of malt and hops, is yet one more glorious example of a Stone IPA brewed outside the box. Our brewers have brought their experiments with German hops to fruition, leaving convention behind to create this hefty IPA entirely with pilsner malts. These provide a superbly crisp mouthfeel, while a unique mix of noble and new-school hop varieties adds layers of bright, bitter flavors. Despite the daunting name, this beer isn’t designed to bring about the end of the world, but it just might destroy some of your preconceived notions of what an IPA can be.

Hops bill: Bitter-hopped with Magnum Late kettle additions: Herkules, Merkur and Opal Whirlpool: Emerald (aka Smaragd) and Strisselspalt from the Alsace region of France, which is just a stone’s throw across the Rhine from the German border. Dry-hopped with a 50/50 blend of German Hersbrucker and Sterling

Malt bill: Weyerman Pilsner Malt, Briess GoldPils Vienna

16 aug 2013, bottle. Yellow, clear, no bubbles. Nose is straw grain and faint lemon hops. Thin body and moderately fizzy. Cotton candy, grassy hops, sugary. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours gold. Head is frothy white. Nose is complex sweet citrus, sticky sweet malts, floral and citrus. Flavor is muted floral and light citrus, intense bitterness like you would suspect with stone. pretty good but very different.

Bomber->SA. Light orange/gold with huge frothy white head. A: strong bright hops - citrus and pine; sweet malt. T: bitter pine hops, resin. Very bitter and xerostomic. Expected better.

Pours a clear golden with a minimal but retentive head. Aroma is a pine forest. Taste is grapefruit, white grapes, just a little sweet pale malt and HOPS!! Really nice, but the hop bitterness dominates (yeah, I know it’s Stone). Interesting, but totally radical hops.

Bottle from The Common Market. Pours a clear orange color with a white head. Aroma of resinous hops and a slight bit of grape. Taste is subtly bitter but even across the palate.

Bottle. Clear bright amber gold, with a white head. Lots of Stone’s standard bitter hops, citrus, grapefruit, crackery malt, peppery, some fruity sweetness, earthy, and a bit buttery. A strange DIPA, certainly tastes similar to imperial pilsner. Ok

Pour is a clear blonde with a large white head. Aroma is a spicy hop with a lot of pine. Flavor is a nice hop with some sweetness followed by a big bitterness. I don’t really get any pils malt or noble hops, it’s just a pretty much in your face sweet hop bomb. Drinks more like a 5% IPA then the 9.5% so this could be a black out beer.

Bottle at Brewdown. Pours cloudy gold with white head. Nose and taste of yeast, citrus bread, pine and toasted malt. Medium body.

Gotterdammerung pouts a hazy apricot amber with a firm head of small off white bubbles. Nose is resin, rasins and maybe a hint of grapefruit citrus. Taste is intially dry with the hops being less strong than the nose would indicate. Subsequent sips indicate that the Hops are mild for a stone product but just as tasty as one would expect. A very smooth body. and a nice finish. a nice IPA.

22 oz. bottle. Pours clear orange gold color with a thin soapy white head that fades to a soapy wispy film and collar. Aroma has soft floral herbal scents which are slightly minty and earthy flower. Taste has a crazy bitter hop flavor that turns right into a minty earthy flower and herbal characteristics, there is some spice/pepper which is probably from the mint. Palate is medium and drying with a warming finish. This is a complex beer with some not so common flavors.
