COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stone 10th Anniversary IPA harkens back to our earlier Anniversary Ales, with abundant hopping at many stages of the brewing process. Appropriately, the aroma is over-the-top, with pronounced piney and resiny hop flavors combined with tropical fruit esters and more subtle notes of toasted malts and alcohol. Our Stone 10th Anniversary Ale weighs in at 10% alcohol by volume (perfect for a 10th anniversary beer), and has a little more color and malt character than our other IPAs. In addition to using the new Summit hop variety in the brewhouse to provide the powerful bitterness, we went back through our records and found some of our favorite hops over the years, and used them to flavor this brew, including Chinook, Crystal, and large doses of Simcoe in the dry-hop to provide a huge, complex, piney, fruity and floral hop character. This is a colossal beer, big in every sense: hoppy, malty, rich, and strong! Right up our alley.

Re-releaase as part of the 20th anniversary encore series in 2016

I rocked a three liter bottle of this earlier with my housemates, and it was awesome. Rating from a 22 now. Lots of citrus in the aroma, with a touch of a pleasent flowery sweetness. Pours amberish, with a small off-white head. Flavor is lots of pine, some citrus, and some caramel flavors. Nice warming alcohol finish. I love all of the Stone IPA’s I’ve had. Nice beer.

Pours amber in color. Medium head. Smells hoppy and earthy, mostly pine. Smells a little bit like grapefruit. Taste has a very hoppy taste, with a nice malt in there as well. Taste is a little piney as well, hint of grapefruit present in the taste, but not as much as the smell leads on.

Nice amber color with a medium sized lasting head with an orange tint. Wonderful grapefruit & floral aroma. Sweet hoppy flavor with some spice. Medium body and leave you with a clean palate.

Poures a burnt orange with a cream colored head that settles slowly leaving a thick ring of lace. Smells of many different juicy hops, big pineapple and some sweet malt. Tastes of piney, juicy hops with big pineapple and a nice sweet malty balance to finish. Not the hop bomb I was expecting but very delicious anyway. Medium in the mouth with good carbonation. ABV isnt even close to feeling how it should except for the warmth from the alcohol. A delicious brew and a must try. Well done.

Golden/Amber color with an off white head. Citrus aroma, with a smooth citrus taste. Hoppy and bitter from start to finish.

This is an interesting beer and wasn’t really sure what to make of it. It was very strong and bold like a typical stone beer, but it tasted differnent than thier other double IPA and IPA. It was almost more barleywine in taste than an IPA.

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2007 This was a dissapointment for me. WAAAAYYY to piny. I wanted to like it, but just couldn’t do it. Tried it chilled, didn’t like the first glass so i let it warm a bit, still no luck. The overkill piny taste was too much. Couldn’t get any alcohol or hops flavor out of it. I will try it again, but not for a while.

This thing has mellowed out a bit. It falls much more into may category of a top notch IIPA. The pine taste is there still, but in a much more blended taste.

Bottles at Collins Bar NYC.

I was ther with a bunch of japanese customers and they didn’t know what hit them. Wonderful stuff. Everything’s great about this beer. Gorgeous hazy copper/orange color, creamy persistent head, laced wiht the copper of the ale. Hoppy aromas, balanced sweet and hoppy taste, substantial mouthfeel . If you like an IPA (double/imperial) you have to try this.

Clear appearance gives the impression of a stripped down version of a double ipa. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The taste alternates between sharp and spicy and sweet, round, full fruit. There is a wonderfully broad range of flavors in this ipa that truly highlights a thougtful combination of malt and hops. I have had a lot of double ipas as it is one of my favorite styles, but Stone consistently adds a transcendent dimension that makes me pray for the day they distribute in Minnesota.

A heavy IPA that’s great. Amazing hop flavor that shows they’ve improved on their quality.
