4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
This beer is truly an original. I am honored to have had the opportunity to taste this one. The aroma was very alcoholic with tremendous caramel and citrus undertones. The flavor was malty with a slightly bitter finish. Overall this was a top quality IPA.
9/21/20162 -- from notes: 2oz bottle, from Dutch's. Dated 8/25/16. Really does drink like an amped-up Stone IPA. Just with a bigger body, and a touch of warmth on the back. Awesome big piney hop, citrus, pineapple, a touch of tropical hop. Some malt, but unobtrusive on the flavor. Mildly slick. Bigger body. Lighter carbonation. Great, balanced taste. Big bitter, mild to moderate sweet. Long, hoppy aftertaste that works well with the warmth. Great to enjoy with my sandwich. Clear orange color. Thin white head, dots and short ropes of lace. Maltier than Stone IPA, but enjoyable still. GenDV138 (7898) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - FEB 23, 2017
22 oz bottle shared for Allagash’s Drink It Now Day. Thanks radagast83! Clear golden orange with off-white head. Aromas of citrus, floral notes, stone fruit. Tastes of citrus, floral notes, pine. Medium body with a dry finish. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - FEB 16, 2017
Bomber. Dark brown. Aroma of coffee, cocoa, oats, vanilla, caramel. Oath and meaty, caramel, chocolate, cocoa, coffee. Smooth. brokensail (16689) - Dublin, California, USA - JAN 14, 2017
On tap @ Stone’s J Street Tap Room. Copper colored beer with some white foam. This is terrible. Jalapeño aroma followed by grass, wood, and caramel malt. Toasty and also watery. An astringent and very green, vegetal finish to this. Moderately bitter, kind of sweet, and not a great mouthfeel. This is really, really disappointing. Hard scroll past. varanid99 (1399) - AUSTRALIA - JAN 14, 2017
UPDATED: JAN 20, 2017 Orange-gold pour with a thickish pale orange head, which settles to a tight .5cm layer. Big citrus - grapefruit, orange - plus a bit of tropical fruit, good caramel backbone. Taste is a mild hit of bitterness up front, citrus, pine, caramel, and beautifully balanced, mild bitter, fruity, malty finish. This is a good one. Easily better than the 10 or 20 year versions

Bottle. Deep golden with one finger head. Medium body with light caramel and slight booze. Old school with citrus hops and substantial bitterness. Good stuff, but a reminder that IPAs have come a long way in a short amount of time. ACHops (1690) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 4, 2017
22 oz bomber, part of the encore anniversary 4-pack. Served in a tulip glass, pours hazy deep orange amber with thin lacy off-white head. Aroma is sweet syrupy lightly toasted caramel malt, hops are floral but relatively muted. Taste is thick, bright juicy caramel malt, dank citrus throughout, super clean dry biscuity finish. This is an old school, west coast DIPA, doing the style Stone does best. I know this isn’t the trend du jour, but man, what a textbook classic style... imagine a Pliny or Green Flash (or Stone...) IPA circa 2000, that’s what we have here. Love the encore series too, really cool that Stone can revisit classics from their catalog and update as needed. alkolord (616) - - DEC 26, 2016

Aroma is very floral, along with fruit and citrus hops. The flavor is citrus, fruit, mild grapefruit/tropical fruit, malts and an increasingly bitter finish. Not as blunt or dank in bitterness as the more recent Stone IPAs, this is very reminiscent of another era of IPAs; at least where I live you don’t often get many this good and balanced anymore. tderoeck (10617) - Gent, BELGIUM - DEC 18, 2016

Clear orange beer, small aery head, almost non existing. Aroma: very resinous, hoppy, bit sweet, some caramel, malty touch, dank and sweet. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, pretty dank, resinous, lots of sweet caramel, malty, slightly fruity. Aftertaste: sweet touch, lovely bitterness. Nice one.
