COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We celebrated our first five years in business by releasing anniversary India pale ales, with each subsequent IPA brewed to be hoppier and more intense than the previous. For our 6th anniversary in 2002, we extended this concept by making an intensified version of Stone Smoked Porter. We cranked up the malts and hops a notch or three and conditioned it on French and American oak, which accentuated our porters distinctive smokiness and amplified its chocolate and roast coffee flavors while also adding subtle notes of toffee, cherries, dried berries and vanilla. Were proud to give those who missed outas well as those who didnta fresh shot at experiencing this smoky, dark-as-night wonder.

soot black, moderate smoke. little bit of licorice, maybe a touch of black fruit. ample hop bitterness for a porter. some alchohol flavor. revised: upgraded rated a little. came around a bit / flavors seemed more integrated as it warmed up. this beer should be served very close to room temperature - maybe 65F. UPDATE: having a bottle at 68F - seems considerably more balanced / upgraded rating. This beer was clearly engineered for room temperature consumption. Dont even try unless its 60F or warmer.

Bottled 4/6/16. Great googily moogily, what a porter. Aromas pretty much perfect, giving up massive chocolate and coffee notes backed by a hoppy pine undertone and waves of smoke. Looks just as good, dark, dark brown with a jubilant beige head and lace upon lace. Taste starts with a heavy mocha vibe, then gains a caramel-toffee sweetness backed by dried cherry against an oaked vanilla background. Gains a considerable hop bitterness as it progresses, pine-filled and clingy, before hitting a chocolate-java finish touched with hints of smoke and wood. Textures milky smooth without a hint of alcohol. Absolutely delicious.
