UPDATED: MAR 29, 2009 On tap at Stone’s World Bistro early 01/08. Pours deep amber – brown with near infra red edges and tan head. The aroma is a bit on the light side with a mixture of brandy, wood and chocolate malts. The taste begins with a dessert like beer sweet tastiness. YUM!!!! Upon further investigation I get chocolate malts, sweet brandy, a hint of brandy dryness, barrel woodenness then it moves toward roasted malts with a splash of burnt malts. Really nice balance achieved here between the brandy, wood and rich maltiness. The smokiness is somewhat left way in the background much like the base beer. It is only just noticeable. Wow, I loved this beer. egajdzis (6730) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 23, 2008
Poured a hazy dark brown / red color with a small, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma was fruity (from the brandy), vanilla, oak, roasted malts, and cocoa, with a bit of smoke as well. Taste was vanilla, brandy, roasted malts, and chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel, but somewhat thin. Thanks John!

Draft at EBF in 08. Pours a brown body with a tan thin lacing. This was not as good as the original and the smoke was subdued by a vinous alcohol and and vanilla. Still good but i rather the bomber. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - AUG 8, 2007
On tap at Stone. Dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, oak, and brandy. Thick creamy palate. Rich dark chocolate taste, smooth brandy notes, rich vanilla and oak tastes to the finish and a long lingering alcoholic warmth. Dickinsonbeer (5073) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - FEB 23, 2008
EBF. NOTB 08. Pours a deep dark brown, almost black- head fades though. Aroma is nutty chocoalte, dry toastiness, some light smoke- but diminshed from the original version. Light brandy flavor- sharp caramel malts and sweetness from the brandy- some wine and grapeskin character, and a toasty dry finihs. Body is very weak- the barrel and the brandy both took a lot away from an otherwise good Smoked Porter. ads135 (5031) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - AUG 30, 2017
A pretty good porter. Pours really dark reddish brown. Smoke is faint, but it accents the brandy quality. Barrel aging is nice. Tried for the first time back in 2011 during a Flying Saucer tasting in KC. TomDecapolis (4636) - Milton, Delaware, USA - APR 22, 2008
