COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When reading the name “Stone Cali-Belgique IPA”, “Cali” hints that it is a California style IPA, and this brew has an undeniable Belgian influence, indicated by the word “Belgique” (which is how Belgium’s French-speaking population says the word “Belgian”; the Dutch speaking Belgians say “Belgie”). We carefully selected a Belgian yeast strain that illuminates a fascinating new aspect of the beer that is otherwise quite simply Stone IPA.

The result is both completely new and different, while still being recognizable as a Stone Brew – and Stone IPA in particular. Think of it as an otherwise identical twin to Stone IPA that was raised in a Belgian culture. Literally.

Can at home. A very nice beer that I would describe as an American IPA, but with more body and interest. Which is probably what they were intending. A very nice, bitter hop flavour with a smooth mouthfeel. A dark colour, stong hop aroma and a welcome hit of alcohol. This is definitely one to revisit.

Puszka z datą : 08.2017
AROMAT : Intensywny. Chmielowe. Głownie nuty ziołowo-karmelowe. W tle nuty cytrusowe, mniej drożdżowe (fenole).

UPDATED: JUN 17, 2017 Can. Golden colored with a light orange hue and full white frothy head. Intense citrus aroma with notes of grapefruit and orange, some peach and hints of vanilla. Medium bitterness that gains a pleasent intensity in the finish and is grounded in a light sweetness. Medium thick body that feels quite heavy. Carbonation is medium as well, with a light sparkling mouthfeel. Citrus is also in the taste, however less intense, grapefruit notes remain, but gains in sweeter and heavy notes of peach and plum along with spicy peppery touch in the finish and aftertaste. Gets an alcoholic warmth in the end that stays with bitterness in the aftertaste. The combination of crisp and citrus with heavy and sweet peach and plum is quite harmonic and balanced, giving a rather complex flavor.

Can. Pours hazy golden. Thin film of head. Aroma is doughy. Has a lot of flavors you’d expect to find in a saison. A bit peppery on the finish. Nice.

Clear brown with a bit of a head. Light fresh aroma and flavor, a bit citrusy, tastes a bit like a saison. Clear and refreshing, with a hoppy aftertaste. Nice!

33 cl. can @ Home. Brewed in Berlin. Aroma: not very intense aromas of spices, bubblegum. Subtle hints of banana, yeast, malts, toasted malts, fruits, floral. Malts are increasingly noticeable as the beers warms. Appearance: golden color with slightly off white and very creamy head. Medium hazyness. Foam made of big sized bubbles. High retention. Low Brussels’ lacing. Taste: medium sweetness, low to medium bitterness, no sourness. Flavors of grapefruit, grapes, fruits, pine, resin, citrus, alcohol. Balance is on the bitter hoppy side. Palate: low to medium body, watery to oily texture, low to medium carbonation, quite long mainly dry bitter finish of grapefruit, grapes, fruits, citrus. Final bitterness is quite high. Overall: very good appearance. Quite odd aromas and flavours. This strange california-belgium combination yields a quite odd result but it’s not a bad one. Just an interesting, very complex and maybe a bit failed experiment. Quite refreshing and thirst quenching. Quite bitter at the end.

Belgian flavour and bitterness, Californian hops and appearance. Citrus and dry notes. A bit of an odd beer, which successfully fails at being one thing or another.

Appearance is nice hazy dark golden yellow, with almost no head. Smell, is light hoppy but pretty suttle. Taste is pleasant more fully rounded then most ipa’s. Not to hoppy. After a while an unpleasant aftertaste in the back of the mouth

Golden coloured beer with a small white head. Aroma of fruit and hops. Taste is sweet hoppy fruity and yeasty with grape and some citrus notes. Medium to heavy palate.

Amber. Lightly hoppy, and fruity, aroma. Dryish taste, with hoppy flavour, and spicy and fruity yeast. Strong bitter finish. Medium body. Overall, a decent IPA. Belgian yeast and american hops are sort of a mismatched pair. They both seem to fight for your attention instead of complementing each other.
