COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When reading the name “Stone Cali-Belgique IPA”, “Cali” hints that it is a California style IPA, and this brew has an undeniable Belgian influence, indicated by the word “Belgique” (which is how Belgium’s French-speaking population says the word “Belgian”; the Dutch speaking Belgians say “Belgie”). We carefully selected a Belgian yeast strain that illuminates a fascinating new aspect of the beer that is otherwise quite simply Stone IPA.

The result is both completely new and different, while still being recognizable as a Stone Brew – and Stone IPA in particular. Think of it as an otherwise identical twin to Stone IPA that was raised in a Belgian culture. Literally.

Bottle. Very nice round and well balanced hop flavor. Maybe the Belgian yeast give more body to the beer than a traditional ipa ale yeast.

Appearance is cloudy golden, with a 1-2 finger pure white head. Aroma- Belgian yeast, spices, banana, orange peel, grapefruit, malty hints. Taste- hops, spicy notes, orange, hints of grapefruit and pineapple, bitter hop resin, bready malt undertones. Smooth mouthfeel, bitter at the end. Good stuff.

Can from Fountainhall Wines. Pours a clear vibrant gold with a nice fluffy off-white head. Got to admit, it looks delicious. Aromas have a soft sweet banana and mild fudge. A gentle dry peppery warmth and a fresh summer berry cordial. The dry spice is more prominent in the flavours but it’s a stand out fruity profile that stands tallest. A real nice bittered leafy hop balances the fruit. A soft medium body with a crisp sparkle. It’s really refreshing. I struggle to believe the difference the choice of yeast makes to a recipe’s outcome. Everything feels balanced and fruity with a dry freshness. I reckon I prefer this to standard Stone IPA but I definitely need another to confirm.

Clear pale color with huge fluffy white head. Aroma. Citrus, grapefruit, belgian yeast, funky stuff. Taste: same. Medium bitter ending. Grassy aftertaste.

Can 33cl. Clear golden color with white head. Aroma has a lot of fruit and hops. Taste malt and hops, like elderflower and lemon with classic IPA bitterness.

Bottled. A honey-gold colour with a small off-white head and a slight haze. Aromas of yeast, bubblegum, and pear drops. A combination of very dry hops with cloves and bananas. Definitely cali-belgique! A sweet start then dry and bitter. Warmth from alcohol, clean flavours, and very powerful bitterness.

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2017 Can from Beer Hawk. Hazy ginger with white foamy head. Light, fruit aroma. Crisp and refreshing and yes, hoppy, grassy with Belgian wheaty/yeasty taste. Delicious.

Pours golden yellow with a thin white head and good lacing. Aroma is intruiging blend of Belgian yeast and IPA tropical hops. Aroma is pineapple, apricot, lime, mamelae, banana, cloves, light caramel and straw. Taste is sweet with a nice bitter and good length finish. Lovely stuff.

It's a good, rather normal tasting, IPA. Not much out of the ordinary but I liked it.
