COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When reading the name “Stone Cali-Belgique IPA”, “Cali” hints that it is a California style IPA, and this brew has an undeniable Belgian influence, indicated by the word “Belgique” (which is how Belgium’s French-speaking population says the word “Belgian”; the Dutch speaking Belgians say “Belgie”). We carefully selected a Belgian yeast strain that illuminates a fascinating new aspect of the beer that is otherwise quite simply Stone IPA.

The result is both completely new and different, while still being recognizable as a Stone Brew – and Stone IPA in particular. Think of it as an otherwise identical twin to Stone IPA that was raised in a Belgian culture. Literally.

Stone achieved their purpose magnificently on this one. An undeniably Stone IPA with Belgian characteristics. Nice!

Heidelbeer (4) - Bielefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - DEC 1, 2016 does not count
It pours a slightly murky dark blond beer with a medium sized, almost dense but not enough to be creamy, ivory coloured, medium long lasting head. A nice fruity mandarin hoppy, coriander like spicy and slight yeasty aroma fulfill your nose and gives you good expectations. I might recall a scent of ripe bananas. Not very complex but really pleasant. The flavor is first malty sweet, fruits which will turn into a hoppy grass above average bitter. Finish is almost long lasting and leaves you thirsty for some more. In Sum this beer is like advertised, an IPA with a Belgian twist that does not deliver the complexity of belgish beer but adds a interesting component to a good IPA. I like it more than Stones original arrogant Bastard and can recommend it. Cheers!

Bottle. Lemony and spicy aroma. Tangy and spicy, finishes with a stiff bitterness. Piney hops. Pretty much what youd expect from a belgian IPA.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2016 Can from Alko, Helsinki. Pours clear golden with a little white head that leaves lacing. The aroma showcases the promised Belgian attributes; Belgian style fresh fruitiness and yeast combine with American citrusy fruitiness and a touch of malts – nice. Taste is dry, medium bitter and tart; flavours include sour apple, citrus fruits, herbs, earthy notes, grain. Definitely a combination of American and Belgian features, and nicely balanced one at that. The palate is medium bodied, average in carbonation. A much needed original take on IPA.
