On tap at Stone 17th anniversary party. An unclear, golden to orange beer with a dense off-white head. At first, it smells like tooth paste, but quickly the vanilla and red wine from the barrels kick in. Alcohol notes and tropical fruits. Full body, warming and pleasantly carbonated. Quite oaked flavor, with fruits and a touch of Belgian yeast. Nice bitterness. Lasting warming finish with oak, tannins, fruits and bitterness. Unusual but quite nice. 130816 brokensail (16696) - Dublin, California, USA - FEB 7, 2013
Clear golden pour with a white head. Nice wine aroma, some apple cider notes, citrus hops, and excellent pear and peach fruit notes. Mildly tart, too. Seems to have sort of an unintentional sour flavor to it, but it works nicely. Apple cider, pear, and peach fruit notes, nice citrus, and some floral hops. Good red wine notes, mild wood, and a light sweetness. bhensonb (16238) - Woodland, California, USA - JUL 1, 2014
Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours very hazy orange with a yellow/beige head. Aroma is rather citrus sour. And oaky. Med body or better. Flavor is fruity, bitingly woody, and a touch sour. Red berry is present, but hard to pin down. Seems more sour stone fruit. Finishes woodily astringent, dry, bitter, sour. Very nice. Drake (14441) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 24, 2014
Kentucky Fried Charleston Trip Beer #109. Draft at Brewvival. Pours a clear vibrant copper color with a thin foamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of juicy citrus, herbal notes, mild wood and wine. The taste is tart wine, citrus hops, pale malt. Medium bodied.

Draft. Gold pou slightly tanner head. Smell is barrel dominant. Oak and vanilla and some wine. IPA is tasted in the flavor with some bitterness and spice, still a lot of barrel, vanilla and red wine soaked pears. j12601 (13592) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - SEP 14, 2012
Pouring at Belgian Beer Fest. Pours a clear amber gold with a thin white head. Leon and wood, soft tartness. Medium bodied, spicy yeast, toast, wood. Gently vinous, toast, spicy and peppery, toast and wood. Nice earthy bitterness on the finish. slowrunner77 (13591) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 24, 2014
Had on draft, but this is one of the new 500 ml releases from Stone as well. One of the rare instances where I like the barreled beer less than the original. The reason being most all of the dry blegian yeast/hoppy interplay is completely covered by the vinous, sour, fruity and acidicness of the barrels. Not a bad beer, just a completely different beer that is not as great as the original." Meilby (11830) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 16, 2013
Draught @ Stone 17th Anniversary Brewers Reception, San Marcos, CAmarcus (11053) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 4, 2014
Pours cloudy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, red wine, oak, yeast and citrus. Taste is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, oak and red wine finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.
On tap at Fredfest 2014. Pours golden with a modest off-white head and a sour fruit aroma. There is a strange tropical fruit flavor with a red wine finish.
