The aroma is malts, caramel, bread and a little roasty coffee. Pours a dark copper brown with a mostly diminishing beige head and very good lacing. The taste is bitter-sweet, a touch salty - umami? The body is medium full, the texture creamy, the carbonation soft and the finish long. A very good beer. lesifflebiere (1928) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - APR 22, 2017

Interesting spin on this beer. Strong with hops, booze and coffee. Slightly sweet and the coffee toned down the bitterness slightly. Big beer all around. Scrumpy369 (959) - Budapest, HUNGARY - FEB 22, 2017
Bottle shared at csakajo. Rusty orange colour head disappears fast. Nose is dried fruits, raisins. Taste is low sweetness low bitterness. Very similar to a barley wine. Low coffee notes. Nice but we decided its not an american strong ale rather a barley wine. snoworsummer (6147) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - FEB 15, 2017

Tap at Stone Escondido. Pours hazy dark copper. Aroma is bready and caramel malts, dark fruit, espresso, and some piney and floral hops. Flavor is rich and aggressively bitter with sharp grapefruit and piney notes, toasted and caramel malts, soft booze, and some subtle espresso. Medium body. mcberko (19177) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 11, 2017
On tap at Stone Escondido, pours a cloudy deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out the espresso beans upfront, followed by caramel malt and aggressive resinous hops sneaking up underneath. Flavour is dominanted by a blast of espresso beans upfront, followed by toasted caramel, resinous hops and red fruits. Aggressive in a classic Stone way - that is, somewhat abrasive but lovely all the same. Extreme beer that works wonderfully.
