Poured into a snifter out of a 22oz bomber.
Pours a very dark brown, but not nearly pitch black with a half finger dark tan head. Head retention is surprisingly good considering the strength and lacing is excellent.
Aroma has lots of milk chocolate up front with some lightly roasted coffee. This has about a year of age on it so I’m not sure what effect this has had on the nose. Notes of dark caramel and roasted malt as well.
More coffee is present in the flavor along with lots more milk chocolate. Strands of cooked caramel and some toffee balanced out by a fairly stout bitterness. A little hint of alcohol becomes present towards the finish. Silky smooth mouthfeel and a pretty sticky finish.
Overall, a very impressive imperial stout and another home run from Stone. I would like to try this fresh sometime.

Bomber from SB cons 2014-03-08 Göteborg
AR: chocolate pudding, wee coffee, truffle souse
AP: oily black, wee beige brown head fizzy
F: chocolate pudding, strong mocca, rich in carbonation, over average bitternees, truffle bits and pieces, cacao nibbles, full - full bodied wee oily feeling, finishes chocolate pudding and heavy mocca (pretty odd combo but it works, hope I don’t to have to stay up all night vs the 5 cups coffee per bomber) Experiment_Ale (1098) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 7, 2014

Bottle offered @ home, via rotbox. I’ve been pulling this out of the MrHangover (4442) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - MAR 3, 2014
cellar rotbox many a nights in the past three months and never pulled the trigger. Tonight was the night for finally executing this sumbitch. Complete black appearance with a pretty nice dark brown head. Aroma has a very sweet, roasted chocolate tint to it. Some coffee, but actually, vanilla comes through even a bit more strongly. Soft mouth feel and smooth finish. Actually kind of has a mouth feel like an Oatmeal Stout. A touch smoky, mostly roasted chocolatey flavor with maybe a touch of caramel. Super easy to drink. Again, vanilla is pretty prevalent. Oh, whoops. There’s espresso in the name? Smooth lingering espresso finish. Great beer that I would love to drink again.
Bottle @ tasting, courtesy of me. Thnx to bytemesis for shipping me this beauty. Pours a pitch black beer with a quickly disappearing, small beige head on top. Aroma has massive espresso, licorice and burnt coffee. Also some faint caramel in there. Flavor has a nice bitter touch from the coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malts sweetness. Very smooth drinking experience, but the espresso could be more evident in the flavor, but still one hell of an awesome beer!

Bottle. Really like the original version of this beer. I find the coffee taking over a bit too much and hiding some of the nice hops. Theres also a somewhat strange and not that pleasant spiciness to it. Benzai (15460) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - MAR 1, 2014
Bottle shared by MrHangover. Opaque black color, nice brown head. Smell and taste malts, roastyness, bitter. Oh lovely beer. Lots of espresso and chocolate. Full body and carbonation. deanso (10070) - Chiang Mai, THAILAND - MAR 1, 2014
