Bottled. A huge offering from Stone, I’ve been waiting so long for them to do an espresso bottled version of the IRS. Finally! A beautiful looking beer, pours oily black with a thick ass cap of foam taking up the top 1/2 inch of my snifter glass. Sustained head throughout drinking. Rich, saucy aroma of dark chocolates, espresso, raisin bread and pancake batter. Flavor follows suit with sweet licorice and maple flavors up front rounded off by drying espresso and bitter blackened malts. Finish is bitter and warming alcohol. Nice chewy body that leaves an Exxon Valdez oil slick on the tongue. Its a bold statement in my book but this straight up competes with Speedway Stout. Hats off to Stone on growing as big as they have as a brewery but still kicking the shit out of palates everywhere.
Dark brown. Lots of coffee on the nose. Touch fudgey on the palate. Alcohol, coffee more fudge in the finish. Ok. PowY (1164) - AUSTRIA - SEP 30, 2017
From tap at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens, Berlin, vintage 2013. Nearly black, dark red-brown color with a tan head. The aroma is very malty, toffee, milk chocolate, coffee, some noticeable alcohol, slightly medicinal, umami. Full body with a medium sweetness and a light bitterness - very balanced. The flavor is full of roasted malt with chocolate, coffee, caramel, toffee, nuts. Bitter, roasty finish and overall very balanced.

Bottle bought at Systembolaget in 2013. Black with a medium tan head. Smooth with espresso, dark chocolate, some dark bread and light licorice. Sweetish and with a full body. A nice one. Svesse (8968) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - JUL 14, 2017
(Bottle) Black colour with brief, frothy, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of espresso, dark chocolate, cacao, black rye bread and raisins. Malty, roasted taste with black coffee, espresso, dark chocolate, black rye bread, liquorice, raisins in brandy and a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness shining through. Fairly straightforward, but tasty, well made and solid with lots of black coffee and dark chocolate. Excellent beer. dorain (714) - Berlin, GERMANY - JUN 3, 2017

2013 version on tap at Stone Berlin. Pours black with creamy head disappearing fast. Aroma: a clear espresso kick coupled with roasted malts and a little bit of pleasant coffee sourness. Taste: nice roasty taste with some coffee and a good bitter palate. The coffee is pretty dominating but it is a fantastic tasty RIS. nickd717 (4999) - San Francisco, California, USA - MAR 24, 2017
