3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Oily black pour with a 1 finger, creamy mocha head that has excellent retention. Tons of dark roast coffee aroma, roast, roasted nuts, char, a touch of smoke, dark chocolate, a little burnt citrus peel. Lots of medium and dark roast coffee up front, dark chocolate, smoke, roast, woody grain, lots of pine floral notes and booze to the finish. Heavy body with an oily entry, boozy astringent finish and light, but sharp and blanketing carbonation. This is mostly really good, but I sort of had to ease into it, the first few drinks tasted like a really good coffee Impreial Stout + Gin Boilermaker, which I imagine not being very good. It got better, but the palate sorta sucks. Astringent and boozy all the way through. I think I enjoyed the previous bottle of this I drank quite a bit more, so I think I will revisit this rating when I drink another.
From tap at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens, Berlin, vintage 2013. Nearly black, dark red-brown color with a tan head. The aroma is very malty, toffee, milk chocolate, coffee, some noticeable alcohol, slightly medicinal, umami. Full body with a medium sweetness and a light bitterness - very balanced. The flavor is full of roasted malt with chocolate, coffee, caramel, toffee, nuts. Bitter, roasty finish and overall very balanced.

Bottle bought at Systembolaget in 2013. Black with a medium tan head. Smooth with espresso, dark chocolate, some dark bread and light licorice. Sweetish and with a full body. A nice one. Svesse (8742) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - JUL 14, 2017
(Bottle) Black colour with brief, frothy, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of espresso, dark chocolate, cacao, black rye bread and raisins. Malty, roasted taste with black coffee, espresso, dark chocolate, black rye bread, liquorice, raisins in brandy and a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness shining through. Fairly straightforward, but tasty, well made and solid with lots of black coffee and dark chocolate. Excellent beer. dorain (519) - Berlin, GERMANY - JUN 3, 2017
WillRunForBeer (2735) - Massachusetts, USA - MAY 19, 2017

2013 version on tap at Stone Berlin. Pours black with creamy head disappearing fast. Aroma: a clear espresso kick coupled with roasted malts and a little bit of pleasant coffee sourness. Taste: nice roasty taste with some coffee and a good bitter palate. The coffee is pretty dominating but it is a fantastic tasty RIS. nickd717 (4841) - San Francisco, California, USA - MAR 24, 2017

Bottle @ home. Cellared for 3,5 years. Pours a black liquid with a tan to brown head. Aroma is richly roasted with coffee, licorice, vanilla, dark chocolate, red fruits, dark bread, dates. Some tobacco, resinous plums, pears/cognac and soy sauce in background. Body is big, carbonation low with a fantastic mouth feel that starts out with rich dark chocolate, roasted malts, licorice, vanilla and dark fruits. Together in a smooth but roasted palate that lasts for several seconds than nicely transcends into an increasing coffee and espresso sensation that lasts throughout the roasted aftertaste. Aftertaste also has slightly vinous dark fruits, dark syrup, ash and dark chocolate lingering
