Tap pours black with tan foam. Sweet roasted grain notes, sweet toffee and licorice aroma. Rich sweet taste with a thickness from the wheat and rye, dense on the palate but overall mild, not abrasive. Gets sweet after a while but retains most of its drinkability. Lower carbonation helps. A tiny bit of barrel pokes through but not enough to characterize the beer. A nice evening sipper.

Tap at GABF 2013. Poured a deep mahogany with a frothy tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt with a little raisin. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a big liqourice fruit malt alcoholic palate.

Sample at GABF 2013. Pours black with a medium beige head. Aroma of bourbon, roast, vanilla, chocolate, molasses and alcohol. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle during the Paramount Cafe Beer Festival at Paramount Cafe in downtown Denver during GABF week 2013. Dark brown, nearly black, pour with a short tan head. Aroma of cocoa, vanilla, coconut, and oak. The flavor is incredible; bourbon, oak, pecan, chocolate, coffee, and booze blend together beautifully for a magnificent combination. Some alcohol warming is detected. An outstanding imperial stout!

Aroma: The nose is bourbon, vanilla, wheat, bread, oak, nuts, and a bit chocolate
Appearance: This one pours a mostly black color with a small tan head
Flavor: The taste is mild sweet, lots of bourbon/oak, nuts, malts, wheat, and a little roast
Palate: The body is medium-full, it feels a little sticky, and has some burn from the high ABV
Overall Impression: This was a solid one for sure, though I cant imagine wanting to drink it too regularly considering how huge it is. Still though, Im happy to have gotten to try it. Thanks for the share guys.

Pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma is heavy dark malts and molasses. Taste is rich roasted malts, a hint of coffee and molasses up front with a little bite of alcohol. The molasses and alcohol flavors remain in the mid-palate and smooth out for a dark chocolate finish.

I split a 22oz bottle with a friend. It was bottled on 6/25/13. I got the bottle in a trade with a friend.

Appearance: Opaque black body, no visible carbonation. Pours to a small, brown, soapy head which retains and laces well.

Smell: Surprisingly fruity, almost berry-like. Sweet aromas of vanilla and licorice, though alcohol is quite prominent.

Taste: Theres a long story behind this beer and Im not going to get into it now. Not that it should persuade me one way or another. This is a one-off collaboration brew - an imperial stout brewed with rye and wheat with some of it aged in bourbon barrels. As seems to be the case with a lot of Stone beers lately, I dont get the rye or wheat, though the barrel aging is noticeable. Regardless, its still an excellent imperial stout that tastes great.

Much like the nose, the palette here is remarkably fruit. And not just grape like so many other imperial stouts, but an almost berry-like taste (blue, red and black), which is odd considering the beer isnt brewed with any of these additives. Theres some licorice or anise-like spiciness through the middle, followed by deeply roasted barley and dry bitterness on the back end (likely from the rye, though I dont get a lot of rye taste per se). The alcohol is a major player in the palette, too. It imparts a woody, vanilla-like flavor throughout the drinking experiences, as well as significant warmth. Ill bet a bottle of this would be amazing a few years from now, but since it was a one-off brew and bottles were scarce, I doubt Ill have the opportunity to find out. In the end, its a great imperial stout that can hold its own with a lot of other comparable brews.

Drinkability: At 13% ABV, Stone Farking Wheat W00tstout is a beast of a beer. To call it robust is an understatement. Yet, I wouldnt go so far as to call it "hot" or difficult to drink. The alcohol is noticeable, yes, but its warm and smooth and works with the body well. The mouthfeel itself is soft, smooth, and the aftertaste is bitter but tolerable. I had no trouble drinking half a bottle, though any more than that would be a challenge.

Wow! This is a big, bomb of a brew and Stone has absolutely hit it out of the park with this beer! Served out of a bottle with a nice dark brown color and light tan head. Aroma is really in your face with nuttiness/pecan, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, & whiskey. As the beer warms in the glass, the aroma REALLY starts to penetrate. Suprisingly (for Stone) the hops werent as forward with this brew. Flavor is initially sweet with a really nice bitter following. This is a full-bodied stout with a nice chewy consistency. Overall, this is definitely one of my favorite beers that Ive ever had. After trying it, I purchased a case to cellar. I look forward to trying this as it ages through the years!

On tap at Taps in Petaluma. Pours a dark black color with a bit of brown head. Aroma of sweet toffee. Taste of sweet burnt toffee and a slight hop flavor. Not tasted a beer like this before. Love it.

Appearance: Pours a viscous looking dark brown. A very modest tan heads, subsides to a pin stripe ring. Even after some serious swishing the beer gets still quick.

Aroma: Dark chocolate. Pecan, light woodsmoke and lumberyard, caramel.

Taste: Dark chocolate dark roast coffee, pecan, spicy bitter hop, burnt caramel, alcohol.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied, a little sticky with very active carbonation.

Overall: Big, flavorful, strong. Something you could definitely revisit in a year. I also anticipate the 100% barrel aged version to be something to look forward to.
