Bottle poured a very dark brown in color with a one finger brown head when poured with some force. Aroma has bourbon barrels, huge dark roasted malt, dark fruit, molasses, and bitter dark chocolate. Mouth feel is on the heavy side with oily coating and a low carbonation. Flavor has dark roasted malt, bitter chocolate, bourbon barrels, molasses, and a heavy lingering finish. There is some heat to this and a fair amount of sweetness.

Bottle pour. Amazing bourbon aroma with a strong bourbon flavor. The nutty taste on the palate is great!

Dam of all dam things this beer smoke smells good. Deep chocolate brown to the point it looks black with a creamy cap floating on top. Aroma is full of nutty coffee, sweet chocolate, hints of banana bread, on deep inhales I get lots of alcohol. Taste is creamy, full, and bitter. Chocolate, pecans, nice heat, wicked bitter finish. THICK!!! This is a wicked desert beer. Has this been aged?? I taste Bourbon!!! Dam fine beer, thanks mom for randomly picking up.

Draft. Black with small tan head. Aroma of dark fruit. Heavy body with sweetness upfront and soy sauce overtones and a toasted and alcohol finish.

Black pour with a thin light khaki head. Nose is beautifully roasty with dark malt notes, a wee bit of coffee, and dark sweet wheat notes, like fresh made pumpernickel dough. Flavor is big and boozy, as expected from a 13%er, heavy dark malty sweetness with plenty of roastiness, a wee bit of caramel and java, light bitter dark cocoa, and dark wheat booziness. Very wonderful, not too much in any one area.

Bottle into snifter. Poured black with a dark tan head. Smelled of prunes, caramel, chocolate and bourbon. Tasted of espresso, dark chocolate, alcohol, caramel and some nut undertone peaking through. Strong aftertaste of dark cacao, Bourbon and alcohol. Intense and great beer.

Bottle. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate, rye and soft wood bourbon aroma. Medium to heavy complex toasted sweet malt flavor with a medium to heavy sweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.

Draft at Proof. Dark black pour with small to medium tan lacing. Bourbon, chocolate, rasins, cocoa, and vanilla in the nose. Taste of bourbon, cocoa, vanilla, and dark roasted malts. Light carbonation, and a bit boozy then I’d like. I think more age will do it justice. Can’t wait to try my bottles of the next couple years.

rbrazell (1698) - Florida, USA - OCT 16, 2013
Draft at Proof. Black pour with a creamy tan head. Very chocolatey nose, cocoa, green wood, and earthiness. Smooth creamy chocolate entry, light wheaty mid palate and then ending on a earthy, piney bitter finish. Alcohol in the body and smooth palate. Not too shabby, glad I have a bottle for down the road.

Really dense, felt-like mouthfeel with notes of pulverized pecans and flamed toffee. It’s complex, aromatic, and quintessentially stone. Still, it’s not as daring or inspiring as other collaborations that they’ve spun up.
