Brewed with rye, wheat malt and pecans and partially aged in Bourbon whiskey barrels, this viscous yet silken brew erupts with an oaky, nutty bouquet and rich flavors of vanilla, toast and bitter chocolate. On tap at Taco Mac. Pours deep walnut with mocha head which dissipated fairly quickly. There is little lacing. Malty Roma with the sweetness of bourbon (but actually fairly subtle) along with oak and cherries. Taste is sweet with the bourbon flavor more pronounced than in the aroma, yet not overwhelming. Oak and dark fruit permeate as well. Full bodied with an oily, slick mouthfeel and low carbo. Overall, really nice beer - bourbon barrel aged, but the bourbon only plays a supporting role here - although becomes more pronounced as the beer warms. Abv of 13 percent is well hidden, but warms you up!

From bottle at home. Black color with beige brown head. Roasted malty aroma, caramel, chocolate, dark dried fruits, hoppy notes, vanilla, nutty, wood. Heavy sweet and moderate bitter taste like aroma with some soy sauce notes when it gets warmer. Full silky oily body with soft carbonation.

Dark brown, light biscuity toasty malts, ok... a bit thin but some ok flavours.

Shared with Strykzone of Facebook Chat Pours very dark brown being near black with a tan head. Nose is chocolate malts and light bourbon. Full bodyl Flavor is chocolate, dark ripe fruit, some nuts, and wood. Bourbon is hard to find but finally appears. What really appears is the alcohol which is not at all hidden, and burns with every sip. That detracts from what is otherwise a very great beer.

Black color. This Imperial Stout has some liquorice flavor, it's a bit nutty, sweet, with pronounced alcohol.
Not very harmonious but good.

Very weird this seasonal release comes every July but well worth the wait. One of my favorite imperial stouts. Some notes of soy and smoke makes for a unique additional to a rather mild and less boozy stout that some would prefer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at republic 7 corners during imperial black Friday. Black with small off white head. Sweet boozy nose. Taste is delicious sugary nuttiness. Perfect body. Excellent.
