COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Its no secret we helped create and popularize West Coast style IPAs (since 1997), Double IPAs (since 2000) & Triple IPAs (since 2006). In fact, IPAs of every ilk imaginable are our bread and (hop) butter at Stone Brewing Co., but well be the first to admit that a night of subsisting solely on big IPAs can be a short one. Enter Stone Go To IPA, our session IPA, boasting all the gloriously bitter, citrusy, piney flavor of our bigger / industrial-strength IPAs, but with a significantly lower alcohol-by-volume (4.5%) allowing IPA fans like us to enjoy more of this amazingly, hoppy beer over a longer session, without giving up any of that gloriously crave-able botanically-driven dankness. Well, OK, when you compare to our bigger IPAs you find that you give up some, as thats what happens when you dramatically lower the abv. And while we work hard to bend the time/space/abv intensity continuum, weve admittedly not yet learned to break it. This comes damn close though.

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2014 Bottle: Bright gold with slight amber-orange tints, great clarity & topped with a chunky white head that sinks to a foamy collar leaving sticky lacing behind. Aroma is surprisingly powerful & very nice! Lots of dripping wet, pungent grapefruit-y & citric notes, wet hops, pine, mild dankness, grass, & some gushing passion fruit. Taste is a touch watery, but still has plenty of flavor... Grass, citrus flesh, mild green onion, cracker malts, pine, a hint of bitterness, a touch of tropical fruit, leading to a relatively dry finish. Crisp mouth feel, very light. I was quite surprised by this, but I shouldnt be, as Stone usually makes solid hoppy beers. Very tasty session IPA... the only thing keeping this from actually being a "go-to" for me is the price.

Pours yellow gold. Aroma is a complex fruit salad. First taste is slightly watery malt but quickly folowed by Citra like Peach, Mango and Gooseberry hop fruit salad. A session IPA is what it is, but this is a good example

Poured from a can (which frothed everywhere) into a Splieglau IPA glass. Hazy, golden colour with 5cm of head in the glass. Citrusy nose and a big piney flavour. The light/medium body would make it very quaffable on a hot day. Lingering bitter aftertaste.

Gold body with small thin white head. Aroma is full of citrus and some pine. The taste is lemon, grapefruit, resin, and just a bit of the pale malts. Body is good for a session IPA and bitterness is quite high as well. Great session IPA

473 ml can purchase at the LCBO at Rideau and King Edward (Ottawa) on January 3, 2017. Hazy gold, big head. Dry faint hoppy aroma, not much else. The state is about the same, with some citrus notes, ok bitterness. Not my go to beer!

CAN 33 CL Berlin. Hazy golden, white head. Mellow and inoffensive aroma - sweet citrus, pale malts, hints if honey, just a little pithy. Subtle sweetness, subtle pale malts, soft resiny/piney hops. Light body, but not watery. A well made easy drinking session ale.

4,7%, brygget i Berlin. En sixpack av denne anytime som helst!

33cl can (Stone Berlin brewed). Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aroma: very hoppy, pine, tropical fruit, citrus. Taste: not as punchy as the aroma, but nice tropical fruits, quite bitter throughout, strong piney/resin flavour. Light-medium body, light-moderate carbonation. This is your go-to IPA if you love piney IPAs.

Can from LCBO. Faithful readers of my reviews (all none of them) will know nothing makes me scowl more than another session ipa. But hold the sourpuss face on this one Freakytiki cuz this is pretty much a gold standard of low abv hop goodness. Beautiful in the glass with a one finger rocky cap. Aromas are light on the citrus & heavy on the pine forest. Sparkling mouthfeel makes this a nice one to pound. Deep notes of pine & wet ganga. Despite the watery requirements of the style this never comes across as thin & fluffy. Oh I will be grabbing some more. Recommended.
