COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s no secret we helped create and popularize West Coast style IPAs (since 1997), Double IPAs (since 2000) & Triple IPAs (since 2006). In fact, IPAs of every ilk imaginable are our bread and (hop) butter at Stone Brewing Co., but we’ll be the first to admit that a night of subsisting solely on big IPAs can be a short one. Enter Stone Go To IPA, our session IPA, boasting all the gloriously bitter, citrusy, piney flavor of our bigger / industrial-strength IPAs, but with a significantly lower alcohol-by-volume (4.5%) allowing IPA fans like us to enjoy more of this amazingly, hoppy beer over a longer session, without giving up any of that gloriously crave-able botanically-driven dankness. Well, OK, when you compare to our bigger IPAs you find that you give up some, as that’s what happens when you dramatically lower the abv. And while we work hard to bend the time/space/abv intensity continuum, we’ve admittedly not yet learned to break it. This comes damn close though.

Poured from the tap into a Rogue pint glass. The color is clear orange/gold with a foamy white head and some nice lacing. The smell is bright hops with some fresh hop aroma. Fresh cut grass is in the nose with a tangerine aroma sweetening things up and making it citrus smelling. The taste is nice piney hops with sweet light malty goodness. A nice citrus flavor with hints of tangerine and tangy grapefruit. Much like Enjoy By IPA, the flavor has that same earthy grass taste. The feel is light bodied and goes pretty damn easy. A tasty beer in a light session-able package. Some flavor reminiscent of bigger IPAs but has lightness that is very drinkable.

33cl can, brewed in Berlin. Great floral tropical nose. Mango, pine. The beer starts intense fruity. Lots of pine and Mango, tropical fruit, nice fresh bittered. The body is fascinating round, deep and fruity. Sessionable, moderate bitter in the aftertaste with a light and fresh body. The hops are intense in the foreground. Great!

An ok IPA, savoury and easy going. I think this one would be better if not filtered, but still a good drink.

Pine and fruits going through with a bitter undertone. They get a lot of flavour in here but the body suffers. Still a very decent IPA.

12-09-2017; bottle; at home (bought at Saveur Bière, as part of their September discovery box). The looks of the beer are good for a Session IPA. Not to special though. The color of the beer is a nice pale yellow, with a slight hint of yellow. The beer has a nice haziness. On top of the beer a nice layer of rough white foam is formed. Foam retention is average. After a wile only a thin drape is left. On the glass some nice lacing is left behind. The smell of the beer is very nice. Some slight sweet malts are present, but they are almost shadowed by the hop aromas. The hop aromas are heavenly though, so let them out shadow the malts, I don't care. I smell huge amounts of citrusy aromas, lime, grapefruit, lime zest, all of that stuff. But, besides I also smell lovely stone fruit. There is some passionfruit there as well, and also a nice hint of lychee. There are also some nice piny aromas. They are lovely together with the nice fruity hop aromas. The taste is also nice, but slightly less than the smell. There are a bit more malts, but the hops have changed a bit. The fruity tropical hops are a lot weaker, and the piney hops are a lot stronger. The give less refreshing sours than in the smell, and more rater dry bitters. It still is lovely though, but they are very slightly out of balance. I wish there was a slightly larger amount of fruitiness in the taste. The palate is nice. Medium body, sticky texture (appropriate for a Session IPA) and high carbonation. The bitter hops give a dry touch, which is nice in combination with the high carbonation. The finish ends in this dryness as well. In the start of the finish there are some nice piney hops and some refreshing fruity hops. All in all, a lovely beer. Definitely one of the better beers around, and especially one of the better Session IPA's. Good work.

16oz can from Antenna America. Pours a bright orange-gold, slightly cloudy, low white head. Nice grapefruit and pine aroma, straightforward but inviting. Similar in taste, add in hints of orange and passion fruit. Decent body for the style, plenty of dank bitterness, dry finish, rides closer to an IPA in feel than most session beers, only a hint of fizzy minerality. Not really a fan of the style (give me an APA for this ABV range) but this has always been one of the better ones, punchy and refreshing.
